Charles picked up his cup and took a sip, surprised to find the juice tasted good. Although it looked like bitter gourd, it was not bitter at all—perfectly sweet and sour.
He lifted Lily and brought her to the drink. The little mouse clung to the glass and drank greedily.
"Well, these guys have always lived on the edge. Death doesn't scare them."
The stall owner leaned in and lowered his voice. "Don't forget one thing. Before, they were the only ones living under a constant threat of death. But now, everyone in the Abyss-Sea is in the same situation. It actually makes them feel more at ease."
Charles chuckled and replied in Chinese, "The issue isn't scarcity, but inequality."
"What did you say?" the stall owner asked, looking puzzled.
"Nothing. Another drink, please. My mouse and I both like your beverage," Charles said, finishing off the last bit of juice in his cup.
