"You seem to know about the Earth's surface? Are you from there, too?" Lilith sized up Charles.
"I'm the one asking the questions, not you. When you came down, had anything unusual happened in the Human World on the Earth's surface, like earthquakes or other disasters?" Charles forcefully took back control of the conversation.
Lilith shook her head. "At least, not before I was captured. Everything was normal, but it's hard to say for sure."
"Because from the time I was captured on the Earth's surface to when I escaped the Abyss-Sea, the Foundation gave me no contact with the outside world. Everything was sealed off. Even the cargo ships that transported us test subjects down here were just iron boxes."
"I don't know why the Earth's surface has become like this, either."
"You said you were caught by the Foundation in 1991, so how old are you this year?" At this question, Charles's heart skipped a beat.
"Exactly 1,016 years old. I remember it very clearly."
