Charles finally told them what had happened. This was to reassure them; after all, the goal this time was to rescue his crew, not to have a final showdown with the Futan Sect, so he had to give them a little something to sweeten the deal.
When they heard everything Charles said, the twelve octopus heads floating in the air froze in place, saying nothing.
After a few seconds, their horizontal-pupiled octopus eyes suddenly shot toward Anna.
Anna stuck out her tongue, shrank back, and hid behind Charles.
"What did you do?" Charles asked, confused.
"These pieces of seafood are having a psychic conversation," Anna whispered, leaning close. "I tried to eavesdrop, but I guess they caught me."
Oct and the others retracted their gaze, and the stalemate resumed.
