After everything had been checked, the entire Governor's Mansion plunged into darkness. Julio let out a slight sigh of relief and turned his head to stare at the wall in front of him. It looked like he was staring at the wall, but in reality, he was looking at the street outside.
He waited until nightfall. Only after seeing the holes in the greenhouse roofs sealed again did Julio finally make his move. He reached into the inner pocket of his coat, grabbed a pearl, and tossed it into the air. A teal light radiated from the pearl, bathing the room.
Under this bizarre light, the shadows of the chairs, tables, and various other objects began to twist and distort. Straight lines bent and curled. Tentacles with intricate, hollowed-out patterns stretched out from within the shadows, and strange, gaping voids riddled their forms. Against this backdrop, what should have been a lavishly decorated hall instantly morphed into a horrifying living hell.
