Charles had seen many cities before, but he had never laid eyes on one so extraordinary.
The city's architecture was built from enormous slabs of green stone, so vast it was impossible for them to have come from Earth. There were also towering megalithic carvings, majestic statues, and elaborate reliefs. The very structure of the buildings beneath the trench defied reason, with unprecedented spatial geometry and dimensions that inspired a strong sense of revulsion in any observer. The surrounding stones at first appeared convex, but a second glance would reveal them to be concave.
The entire city radiated a strong, unclean aura. The twisted, unpredictable angles of the stone seemed to hide sinister threats and a restless energy. This bizarre city seemed to stretch endlessly into the far-off darkness.
