"Did you find any problems?" Charles asked the Doctor.
"Not really. So far, there doesn't seem to be anything abnormal with your body."
"But my head still hurts a lot."
"Don't bring this kind of trouble to me. You brought this on yourself. With how often you go out to sea, a headache is getting off easy. If that situation happens again, let me know immediately. For now, I can't see anything unusual. I'm leaving. Nice new tattoo."
The Doctor stood up and headed for the door.
The ship doctor's last sentence sent a chill through Charles. "I have a tattoo? Where is it?"
Seeing Charles examine himself so intently—it didn't look like an act—the confused Doctor pointed to the spot where his neck met his collarbone. "You really didn't get this tattooed yourself?"
Charles hurriedly grabbed a mirror from a nearby drawer. Looking in it, he quickly spotted the object that had abruptly appeared on his body.
