Kushina continued forming the bijūdama. Meanwhile, Minato had appeared near the sea, below her head, with Fukasaku and Shima on his shoulder.
"She had failed at this before... Can she really do it?" Fukasaku murmured as he watched the girl trying to form the bijūdama. She had tried several times at Mount Myōboku, but it seemed she hadn't had much success.
"She's just not used to it. But if she uses the same foundation she uses to make the Rasengan, it might work," Minato said, while the bijūdama grew larger than Kushina's head. She was only struggling to maintain stability.
"Either way, let's begin," said Minato, who placed both palms together on one side of his shoulder. Fukasaku did the same, as they began drawing natural energy and transferring it to Minato.
Minato already had a way to absorb it very quickly, learning to circulate it as easily as breathing. But having both of them on his shoulders doing that work was certainly much better.
The Six-Tails had already recovered and, this time, he didn't charge forward. Instead, he launched with his hands and tails several pieces of his own body that scattered upward, throwing them like sludge into the sky at that moment.
"The acid is coming toward us," Shima murmured, as hundreds or even thousands of tiny drops advanced like rain, heading into the sky. They were going to hit Kushina, Minato, and the Uzumaki behind them.
Minato appeared on top of Kushina's head as he looked toward the sky. His hand glowed with pure light before he made a single sweeping motion, releasing thousands of small strands of light with that movement. They shot outward, spreading across the entire area.
The rain of light advanced directly against the rain of acid, colliding and creating small yellow explosions in the sky, illuminating the whole place and disintegrating the bijuu's attack. Some splashes slipped through, and Minato was going to eliminate them when he heard Kushina's voice below him.
"Minato, leave it to me," she said, even though she was still struggling to control the bijūdama.
Minato saw Kurama's own tails open up to protect her, blocking the acidic droplets. A bit of the yellow chakra was destroyed, but it quickly regenerated along the tails.
Minato was satisfied, but then saw that the Three-Tails had also begun forming a bijūdama, right in front of the one Kushina was forming.
"This is bad...", Kushina murmured, panicking. If both bijūdama exploded, they would hit them both and also the Uzumaki.
"Leave it to me," Minato said. He waited for Kushina to finally stabilize all that chakra and then jumped directly forward, touching the bijūdama, trying to take control of it.
The moment he touched it, he felt all that chaotic and raw chakra. He struggled to try to control it.
"I had no idea this was so insane!" he murmured, now understanding why Kushina had so much trouble creating one. Even so, he managed to grab it and quickly moved, flying toward the other bijūdama, taking it from the mouth of the Three-Tails, who looked outraged. Minato simply moved his hand and snatched the sphere, disappearing the next instant with both bijūdama.
The Mizukage, who was analyzing the situation, turned pale when Minato appeared above them. The blond simply threw both bijūdama in his direction before disappearing.
In the next second, a flash blinded everyone. The explosion consumed all the Kiri ninjas in that area. Minato reappeared beside Kushina.
"I don't feel the Mizukage's chakra anymore... Did you kill him?" Kushina murmured, stunned.
"I think so," Minato replied, also noticing the disappearance. He had thrown two bijūdama directly on him; there was no way he could have survived. One of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist had also been taken along, while the others, terrified, retreated.
"But it's not over yet. Kushina, take care of the Three-Tails. Let me deal with the Six-Tails," he said, before shining and reappearing in front of the Six-Tails' face, coating his fist in armament haki. The strike made the bijū roar in pain as it was thrown back. Minato fell among the Kiri survivors, who no longer knew what to do; their Kage had simply vanished.
Minato noticed among the group surrounding him someone interesting. He drew a sword, coating it with haki, turning it as black as pitch.
"It's a bit chaotic standing on your shoulder in the middle of a fight," Shima commented, since Minato had been teleporting from one point to another, grabbing two bijūdama that could have exploded in his hands and flying at high speed.
"Sorry about that. Well, now let's join the fight in the sea against the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist," Minato said, before disappearing.
He appeared in front of the swordsman he had noticed earlier, fast enough to block the black sword. Not that Minato hadn't expected it; he had even slowed his attack to greet his companion first.
"Remember me, swordsman of the Mist? From the Kage summit in the land of the samurai?" the blond said. The other gritted his teeth. How could he forget? He had been knocked out by Minato when he tried to provoke him while the blond was with Mikoto.
Now, there they were, in the middle of the battlefield, their forces almost completely destroyed. If two thousand Kiri ninjas were left, it was already a lot, out of the six thousand they had brought.
The man looked frightened now. When he provoked Minato back then, he had no way of knowing he was actually provoking a monster!
"Anyway, I'm here to finish what I started," Minato said.
In the next instant, he cut the sword — one of the legendary blades of the Seven. It broke as if it were fragile, pierced by haki. Minato wasn't even using a named blade, just an ordinary sword, but the haki made all the difference — and then, he cut off the swordsman's head.
Blood splattered across the area and his companions had no time to react to what had just happened.
"Damned!" a voice shouted, as an explosion of water formed several sharks that advanced directly toward Minato.
He simply turned into light, dodging to the side at the edge of the attack, before stopping in that spot and advancing like a bolt directly toward the jutsu caster. The caster, another of the Swordsmen of the Mist, only saw the divine light approaching before clenching his teeth and feeling his throat being pierced, everything going dark in the next moment.
With that, Minato had already eliminated three of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. The head rolled across the ground, blood gushing.
He ignored the reactions, taking a step back as someone there caught his attention. He saw Kisame, a young ninja with a shark-like face who looked at him in fear and trembling.
Minato soon ignored him despite his surprise and returned to Kushina in her Nine-Tails form, lifting the Three-Tails by its own arms, screaming with effort. She simply swung it and threw it backward, making it crash onto the Six-Tails, which was still trying to recover from the blows Minato had dealt.
"Your bijū have no power here. Your Kage is dead. Most of the Seven Swordsmen are incapacitated: three dead and one captured. Do you still want to continue this?" Minato turned his attention to the ninjas around him.
The Kiri ninjas, even trembling, raised their kunai. They had hatred and fear in their eyes.
"Alright. Just don't say I didn't give you the chance to walk away," Minato said, beginning to remove the haki from his sword and sheathing it.
"I don't need natural energy anymore, I already have enough chakra. Now I want you to help me," Minato said. Shima and Fukasaku nodded.
He disappeared, appearing in the area destroyed by the bijūdama, where the sea was still unstable, having placed a seal there. He threw several kunai across the area through his light attacks.
Then he began forming hand signs along with the two toads on his shoulders. In the next instant, they exhaled fire, oil, and water, creating a colossal wave that advanced toward the Kiri ninjas.
They looked at it in terror and tried to raise walls of water, but the three combined elements — fire, oil, and water — broke through every defense. Screams of pain and fear echoed as the waves struck the sea, swallowing those who were on the surface.
Many began to dive, trying to hide underwater as they watched their companions being killed in such a horrifying manner.
Minato shone and rose into the sky, observing the devastated area. He crossed his arms, which began to glow, before launching another attack, firing downward with full force.
Multiple strands of light shot directly toward the sea, passing through the first layer of his combined attack with the toads, reaching the ninjas hidden in the depths, piercing and slaughtering them.
"Boy, I don't know what these powers are, but they're terrifying," Fukasaku murmured, shocked. He had not truly seen what Minato was capable of with the light element. He moved at high speed, had destructive attack power, yet Fukasaku had never heard of a jutsu like that. But what was most shocking was something Fukasaku could not identify: that power did not seem to consume chakra.
Minato only gave a small smile in response. There were still three of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist left on the battlefield, and he was prepared to eliminate them.
'At least Might Duy wouldn't have any problem dealing with them in the next war,' Minato thought.
That was when a roar caught his attention and made him stop. He looked toward the coast. The Three-Tails lifted its tails, roaring in fury, beginning to form another bijūdama. Minato could already feel the reason: the jinchūriki had been completely consumed by the beast. Now it was out of control. The Six-Tails was also beginning to lose control, trying to flee instead of becoming enraged. Those punches Minato had landed must have scared it earlier.
Kushina was already preparing to act, and Minato only gave a small warning to Fukasaku and Shima. "Hold on tight."
That was all he said before his body shone.
He shot toward the Three-Tails' head, appearing there instantly. He placed the palm of his hand on the bijū's forehead, releasing a complex fūinjutsu, similar to a summoning seal.
"Sleep."
Minato said, using a bit of conqueror's haki along with it. And it worked. The bijū immediately lost balance, falling with its tails into the water, its eyes closing.
Minato took the newly formed bijūdama and simply threw it toward the western side of Uzushiogakure, where it exploded, destroying hundreds of IWA ninjas.
He reappeared beside Kushina, who sighed.
"You practically finished them," Kushina said, laughing, while the Three-Tails was passed out in the middle of the sea. The Six-Tails had disappeared. There were maybe fifteen hundred Kiri ninjas left alive — 25% of the entire force they had sent.
Everyone looked around. They hadn't even reached the island and were already decimated.
"Retreat..." someone murmured.
"We must retreat!"
That seemed to be all they needed to hear. The remaining fifteen hundred ninjas began to flee without looking back.
"Well, we don't have to worry about them anymore," Minato said atop Kurama's head, while Kushina laughed in agreement.
