Chapter 195 - Chapter 195 - King and Queen.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV.

Winterfell.

...

...

After all the confusion in the meeting, she had ended the peace with a few more discussions and, on the following day, everyone in the audience chamber was gathered inside the godswood, while Daemon stood before the Heart Tree, with the child of the forest Leaf, who would oversee the ceremony before the Old Gods, for having an identity more closely tied to them than any other living being there.

Winterfell had three races gathered at that moment: humans, giants, and children of the forest. There was no better choice than the latter to conduct a wedding before the Old Gods.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the godswood, Daenerys was brought by Ser Barristan Selmy, who had become a companion of conversations for her — something quite pleasant for the future queen, as the old knight constantly shared stories about when her family was alive, about her mother and her brother.

She liked listening to his stories and advice, even learning from him how to rule as a future queen at Daemon's side. She herself had commented that Daemon had a slightly short fuse.

Daemon understood war: winning battles, facing monsters, and leading armies. Though he was a very well-instructed ruler, as he had been showing with the common folk since he sat on the Iron Throne and welcomed the people of the North — Daenerys knew she would have to help him politically, for he hated dealing with other nobles and their false courtesies.

Perhaps the northerners were more straightforward, but Daemon would have to deal with deceitful and manipulative people, and Daemon already seemed to have dealt with a good number of them in his life in this and the other world especially, since he said he had taken part in several courts inside and outside of Skyrim. Either way, she was determined to help him.

She walked calmly through the place, up to her husband at the front, while all the nobles present in Winterfell formed two groups side by side. She wore a white dress with the Targaryen sigil on her back, part of the cloak that covered her face. On her chest, a necklace with a ruby — Daemon's gift from the night before — hung on a chain of Valyrian steel. Near the ruby, there was a brooch pinned to the chain, also bearing the symbol of House Targaryen.

The jewel had been forged by Daemon himself, in the forge of Winterfell, without caring about the stunned looks of those who saw him — none other than the king of the seven kingdoms — working as a common blacksmith, something he already did in Skyrim.

He enchanted the necklace to grant her protection. And he used a soul for that, though Daenerys did not know.

Daenerys positioned herself before him, being left there after Ser Barristan stepped back to take his position with the Kingsguard.

Daemon drew slightly closer, and the cloak over her head opened, revealing her face. She looked at him with bright eyes and a timid smile. Daemon returned the smile.

"You look beautiful, Dany," Daemon said, sincerely.

"Thank you, Daemon. You look very handsome as well," she replied with a still shy but equally sincere smile.

How could she not be happy? No man compared to Daemon in beauty and charm. She was more than satisfied to have him as her king, her husband — she could not have asked for better.

She loved his bright eyes.

After one more exchange of glances, both turned to Leaf, who was standing on a bench to be at the same height as the couple.

"Let us begin," the child of the forest announced.

All the nobles kept a calm and silent gaze now that the ceremony was about to start.

"Who stands before me?" Leaf asked, turning to Daemon.

"Daemon, of House Targaryen, son of King Rhaegar and Lyanna Targaryen, of House Stark," Daemon answered.

Leaf nodded and turned her eyes to Daenerys.

"Daenerys, of House Targaryen, daughter of Aerys, of House Targaryen, and Rhaella, of House Targaryen," Daenerys said, ignoring some strange looks and the sounds of spitting on the ground when she spoke her father's name. Unfortunately, she needed to say it for the ceremony, even if everyone present despised her father. Still, she could not judge them.

"Are you here today to unite two lives and souls before the Old Gods, as a man and a woman must, through marriage?" Leaf asked.

"Yes," Daemon answered.

"Yes," Daenerys repeated.

"Very well. Daemon, do you swear before the gods that you will protect and honor Daenerys Targaryen as your wife until death separates you?" Leaf asked.

"Yes. I promise to protect and honor my future wife and all our children, until death separates us," Daemon replied.

Leaf nodded and turned to the girl with silver hair.

"Daenerys, do you promise before the Old Gods to be faithful and loyal to Daemon Targaryen until death separates you?" the child of the forest asked.

"Yes. I promise to be loyal and honor my husband, as well as our children, until death separates us," Daenerys said.

"Place the cloak over your future wife," Leaf requested.

Daemon removed the cloak from his own shoulder, bearing the sigil of House Targaryen, and wrapped Daenerys with it over her shoulders, while she touched the fabric with her fingers delicately.

"You may seal the marriage," Leaf declared.

Daemon approached and kissed Daenerys, while she made sure to press her lips firmly against his.

"Now I declare you husband and wife, before mortals and gods, as witnesses," Leaf announced, while the nobles clapped.

Daenerys opened a joyful smile. They were now married, no one could deny it. Two true Targaryens ready to rule the Seven Kingdoms as it should be.

Daemon took Daenerys by the hand and turned to the nobles.

"We will have our feast tonight, but for now, I will take my bride and fly with Winter. There is nothing better than ending a wedding atop a dragon. I hope you are not offended by this. We will return soon," Daemon said, picking Daenerys up in his arms as they walked away.

"Has Winter already arrived?" she asked, curious, as they left the godswood with everyone watching behind them and Barristan Selmy running to catch up.

"Yes. He returned while you were getting ready," Daemon said.

"So he killed that woman?" she asked.

Daemon only opened a smile. "You can bet he did."

After all, Winter had gone looking for her, and Melisandre was no longer in Stannis' camp. He had frightened Stannis' men when the dragon appeared in the middle of the camp to scent the woman's presence. Daemon would not have minded burning him if he had been involved in the assassination attempt through magic. He would have killed him along with a good part of the men of the Stormlands for that insult.

From what the dragon saw through Winter's eyes, she had fled, but was found in a clearing, along with a few followers.

Even with his Warg abilities — there was not much more to know. He would have to ask Stannis directly why that woman escaped when he should have beheaded her.

The dragon simply appeared above them and spat ice upon her and her companions, without giving them any chance to survive.

It was somewhat ironic that the Red Witch — the Witch of Flames — died burned by ice flames, being turned into a popsicle before cracking and breaking apart when Winter landed on top of her, crushing what remained of the ice statue, before returning to Winterfell that morning.

The dragon flew to the gate of Winterfell just as they were leaving dressed as newlyweds. No one understood anything, but Daenerys was laughing, finding the situation very funny.

After a brief conversation with Ser Barristan Selmy, Jon guided Daenerys to Winter waiting at the gate, while the others were still frightened. He climbed up and helped Daenerys do the same.

Jon had Winter rise into the sky, heading south.

"Where are we going?" she asked in the middle of the sky.

"I don't know yet. We can find a place... I thought it would be a bit boring dealing with the nobles' congratulations until nightfall, then waiting for the feast and only then having our honeymoon. I thought we could enjoy it now," Daemon said with a smile, and Daenerys hugged him tighter.

In a few hours, they were already in the south, feeling the temperature much higher than in the North. Daemon chose a place in the valley to land, a wild spot, with no human presence.

He found a rather beautiful waterfall and landed near it. Winter had to knock down a few trees when landing.

Daenerys removed the cloak she had used to fly, and Daemon stored it while quickly checking the area. It was safe. Then, he simply summoned a bed beside the waterfall.

"Sex in the middle of the woods, Daemon?" Daenerys laughed.

"Either we have a comfortable bed, or a waterfall. You can choose," he said, embracing her while kissing her neck.

She stepped back a little, looking into his eyes, opening an excited smile. "I want both. My king."

"Then you shall have both, my queen," he said, removing his clothes.

They spent the next few hours enjoying themselves in the middle of that forest.

When they returned to Winterfell, it was already night. The dragon landed in its usual place, and horses were brought for them. The feast had already begun. Daenerys wanted to fix her hair first. Daemon nodded and went to see how things were going, finding Val with her arms crossed when she saw him in one of the corridors.

"You seem busy," she said.

"It's not every day a man gets married. But now that I'm married to her, we can do that too, if you want," he said.

She huffed, but Daemon knew that, deep down, she wanted it.

She seemed to have liked seeing Daenerys as his wife and would like to have that moment as well.

Daemon sat at the main table, entering as people greeted them and wished them well. The table was still being shared even with Lord Stark and his family. They exchanged no words. Val joined him afterward. Daenerys came soon after, accompanied by Ser Barristan, with the wife sitting on Daemon's right side as usual, but now she was a queen.

The feast was lively. Men laughed and talked. Some shouted the name of the king and the new queen. Daenerys seemed much more at ease.

When the time came for Daemon to take her to the room, he simply raised his hand. "There will be no tradition of men carrying the wife and women carrying the husband on the first night of marriage. I annul that for any wedding I have, you may keep that tradition, but I do not like it," he announced.

Daemon did not like that custom, so he abolished it for himself. If other nobles wished to keep it, that was their problem.

Without saying anything more, Daemon stood and extended his arm. Daenerys did the same, and he took her hand, heading out of the hall while the nobles continued drinking and eating.

----

"Why did we marry so suddenly? I didn't have time to ask you that, after all, finding out I had only one day before my wedding!" When morning came, Daenerys did not fail to ask Daemon, waking him after an entire night of sex with just the two of them.

"You're pregnant. I wanted to do it quickly," he said.

She opened her eyes, stunned. "Are you sure?"

"Yes." That was all he answered.

Daenerys opened a radiant smile. "Our child... we have our first child."

"Yes. The first of many." Daemon kissed her, and they ended up having sex again.

----

The next day went by calmly.

Daemon, unsurprisingly, found Lord Stark training with the sword Ice in the training yard.

Daemon was not training; most of the time, he was in the solar, and he ended up receiving a visit from Bran, being carried by Hodor.

"Can you heal me, then?" the boy asked, anxious.

He was certainly afraid of his father's fate in the duel against Daemon, but he was also attached to the idea of walking again. His father had told him that Daemon had a real chance of making him walk once more, and Bran could not waste that, no matter what happened in the duel.

"Yes, I can do that. I intend to do it after the duel with your father," Daemon replied.

Bran nodded, but looked at him cautiously.

"Are you going to kill him?"

"Everyone asks that. You all know you're hurting Lord Stark's pride just by asking. Showing that he is incapable of fighting me." Daemon sighed. "Do you think your father is incapable of dealing with me, when he accepted this duel?"

"No one can deal with you!" Bran admitted, looking at the ground, not meeting his eyes.

Daemon opened a smile.

"I promise to be fair, then. That will be my only answer. Your father was not fair with me, but I will be with him, even if he does not deserve it. After all, it's already too late for regrets. Anyway, go rest."

The boy left, and Daemon returned to reading some letters.

There were several — even some from the Freys trying to apologize for what they had done. Perhaps the Lannisters had abandoned them, and now they feared facing a dragon and the army gathered in Winterfell.

"Cowards," was all Daemon said, disgusted.

They would be the first to be dealt with when the army of the North marched south.

At this moment, everyone should already know the number of men Daemon had before Winterfell — besides all the armies of the northern lords who had already sworn to follow him in war. They were approaching Winterfell, about ten thousand northerners ready to fight for him.
