Maethion planned to meet Clyde again at their usual spot beside the lake. The bench stood beneath the shadow of an old tree, overlooking a body of water that reflected the perpetual darkness above. The lake resembled a vast black mirror stretching into the distance.
Maethion sat alone on the bench, his hands resting on his knees as he stared across the water. His expression was more serious than usual.
It had been quite some time since he last met Clyde. There was no reason to arrange a meeting during the period, especially while Clyde remained occupied with the missions assigned by the Council.
However, the recent reports gave Maethion plenty to think about.
Clyde's strength had grown considerably since his arrival at Sivagadh Fortress. His performance in the Ruins, combined with his contributions to Samuel's team, suggested that he was far more capable than before.
