In their bedroom, Ayaana and Zahara were lying in their bed, side by side.
Zahara was busy on her phone, babbling to her wife about her outfit plans for their next dinner outing. (Hopefully, it would end without them holding the entire restaurant hostage again.)
"Darling. Are you listening to me?"
Ayaana continued to stare at the ceiling with a furrowed brow.
"...Maybe we should have gone with them."
Zahara put her phone down and propped up her head with her hand.
"Abaddon's a big boy; he can handle a mundane task like creating a new timeline. I know he's been under the weather lately, but we shouldn't just try to rob him of all his independence. I'm sure it bothers him to have his sickness brought up every time he turns his head."
