Chapter 6 - I am your boss

Nessy was already very tired; she just nodded at Geb's words. She stepped away from him and walked toward the car — a sleek Lamborghini. She slid into the driver's seat and started the engine, expecting Geb to be beside her, but he stood a few feet away, staring at the car in awe.

He had never seen anything like it before. He was mesmerized, lost in thought until Nessy's voice cut through the silence. "Geb! What are you doing there? Geez, hurry up! I'm tired and need to go home."

Did she just call him by his name again? Funny enough, he wasn't angry or upset. He could have found countless reasons to be, yet his pride held firm. "I asked you to call me your Lord. I am now your God," he said, his voice rising slightly.

Again, Nessy felt intimidated. She bowed her head, wanting to apologize immediately, but her phone rang. The sudden sound startled Geb, breaking his intimidating aura over her. Nessy snapped back to reality and rummaged through her bag to answer. She stepped out of the car and a few paces away from Geb to take the call.

As she moved away, Geb pondered why he had to use his godly aura to subdue her. That was unlike him. Gods didn't force mortals to worship or serve them; they extended their hands, and humans chose whether to accept or reject. Mortals' greatest weapon was their choice.

Yet Geb was denying Nessy that choice, and he knew it. He didn't care. It was a risk—if she discovered he had bound her by force, she could break the covenant, and he would remain in pain for eternity.

Thankfully, this stupid mortal didn't understand a thing. She was interpreting all of this in a completely different way. Geb secretly wished she would never find out. He wanted her—even as a consort. Yes, he desired her as a consort but wanted her to accept him willingly first. The hunger in his mortal flesh for her had ignited the moment he saw her, but he discarded the thought. His primary goal was to return to his world and to Nut. Yes, Nut—he missed her terribly, and that was why he felt attracted to this mortal. He closed his eyes, trying to recall Nessy's aura, scent, and the feel of her bare mortal flesh beneath his. He was so lost in thought that he didn't notice Nessy yelling into the phone.

"Look, I don't care who you are or whatever feelings you have for me. But all I can say is, know your class and the cheap sluts you call for hookups. And I am certainly not one of them! Rubbish!" she yelled before cutting the call.

Disgust was written all over her face, but she said nothing to Geb. He didn't bother asking; he simply read her mind. She was angry and fuming, but most of all, sad. Angry because the so-called 'Adams' had called to confess love, and she felt insulted. She hated when men asked her out—she always believed they were after her money, status, or beauty, and none truly loved her. That thought angered her, but it also saddened her deeply. She loved her rich life and status but knew those things blocked her chances of finding true love. No one would ever love her genuinely; they'd only come for her money and influence. Though it made her sad, she never showed it. She was a master at hiding feelings, which was why she always wore the rude 'I don't care' attitude. But deep down, she cared deeply. She forced back the tears welling in her eyes before they could fall—she had promised herself never to cry again after her parents' deaths, and she wasn't ready to break that promise.

'What a brave mortal,' Geb thought.

Nessy caught Geb staring at her intently, as if studying her. She guessed he might have seen her struggle not to cry and was caught in awe. Of course he should be—who wouldn't be? It was a sight to behold the arrogant billionaire Nessy Saadid crying. 'It could even make the papers,' she thought.

Immediately, she forced a straight face and said, "Let's go now. Get in."

Geb remained silent, walking to the car. Nessy then realized he was still naked. She turned sharply, cheeks burning. Without looking at him, she pulled a shawl from her bag and handed it over. "Wrap this around yourself."

Geb smiled sinisterly. He had read her mind and couldn't help but grin. 'So she really is innocent. What a consort I have,' he thought as he wrapped the shawl around his waist. Its length reached mid-thigh, but at least it was better than being naked, Nessy thought as she watched him.

She turned to face him, walking swiftly to the car. Geb followed, watching as she opened the door. Miraculously, it opened for him as well. He entered and took a seat. It felt like a carriage—except without horses—and it was stunningly beautiful and comfortable.

Nessy started the car after he settled in. She found his reaction amusing; he had never been in a Lamborghini before. She hid her smile well, but Geb heard it and wondered why she never smiled outright. He held his peace, not wanting to bother her.

It was already very dark when Geb couldn't help but exclaim softly in awe at the streets of modern Egypt. He couldn't believe it was the same land he ruled in ancient times. This world looked magical, he thought.

They drove for about 35 minutes before arriving at Nessy's mansion. His jaw dropped. It was like a huge magical castle, all adorned with lights—it looked grander than the pyramids themselves. He wondered if the pyramids still existed. He wanted to ask Nessy but saw her sadness and fatigue and swallowed the words.

"Follow me," she said without looking at him. "Welcome to my mansion. I live here alone," she said silently, pleading inwardly that he wouldn't ask why. Fortunately, he didn't, though he wanted to. He respected her unspoken plea.

"Follow me. I'll show you to your room." She led him up the stairs, down a passage, then to a door painted grey. She opened it.

Geb was mesmerized by the breathtaking interior design.

She then opened another door. "This is the restroom. Get some rest—tomorrow will be a very busy day for you." Those were her last words as she walked out.

Geb was confused; he didn't understand a word. He'd been holding back, thinking she'd collect herself, but no. He had no choice but to duplicate her memories so he would know everything she knew and wouldn't need to ask.

He considered the idea briefly, then walked out, startling Nessy, who was halfway down the passage.

"What is it? Is everything alright?" she asked, confused.

"Actually, nothing is," he said with a smirk.

Before she could ask more, he moved quickly, pulling her close and holding her head. She looked into his hazel eyes, then felt a sharp pain in her head. She screamed in agony as her life flashed before her like a video tape.

"Aaaaaahh!" she cried out.

Geb was pained by her suffering but didn't understand why. He hastened the process to ease her.

After the mind duplication, she fell to the floor, tears in her eyes. "What did you do to me? Don't you know…" she breathed, "I am your boss." Then she passed out.

"Sorry, but this was the only way, boss," Geb said with concern. He knew what she was enduring now, every detail of her life. He had learned everything she knew.

He carried her to her room, laid her gently on the bed, tucked her in, and placed a kiss on her forehead. "My mortal consort, have a good night's rest."

He switched off the lights, closed the door behind him, and went to his own room, which was easy to find now. Tightening the shawl around his waist—he had no other clothes—he lay down, moaning slightly at the comfort of the bed. Before long, he fell asleep. His mortal body was weak and needed much rest…
