Both the players and the audience were stunned by Quicksilver's high-speed rescue—especially the other Quicksilver from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who now watched the future footage with a rather conflicted expression.
"Damn it… we're clearly the same person, so why does it still feel like this guy completely stole the spotlight?
In the future, when people mention Quicksilver, will this be the face that comes to mind first?"
Pietro grumbled inwardly.
To be honest, he felt that he could achieve the same level of super speed as his counterpart from another timeline. Unfortunately, his problem was that his own future had already been exposed far too early—specifically, the footage of him being riddled with bullets.
As a result, the internet was now full of questions like:
"Between Wanda's brother and Quicksilver, who's actually faster?"
Look at that—he clearly carried the codename Quicksilver, yet in the eyes of many viewers, that title no longer seemed to belong to him. Instead, it had become synonymous with Pietro Maximoff from the X-Men universe.
By comparison, "Wanda's brother" had almost become his defining label.
Unsurprisingly, most of the answers beneath that question were brutally blunt:
"Wanda's brother is bottom-tier. They say he's fast, but he couldn't even dodge bullets. At best, he's on the same level as A-Train."
A slightly more reasonable take went like this:
"This isn't easy to compare unless there's an actual multiverse race.
Didn't Vought's world already hold a superpowered sports event?
This could totally work—and it'd be way more fun than the Olympics!
Let Quicksilver, Wanda's brother, A-Train, and the Flash race it out and see who's truly the fastest!"
When Pietro Maximoff first saw that comment, he had to admit—it genuinely tempted him.
He had sparred privately with the Flash before. Neither of them had gone all-out, yet they still ended up neck and neck.
That only made him want to bring in the Quicksilver from another universe and settle things properly—once and for all.
With that thought in mind, he turned around to look for his sister Wanda, hoping she might be able to help.
---
Back in the future footage, the X-Men universe's Quicksilver was far from finished showing off. It was obvious that he was the quietly flamboyant type—no, scratch that, he was openly flashy.
Even while rescuing people, he couldn't resist throwing in a bit of mischief, such as casually separating a couple who were in the middle of kissing.
What should have been a tense, life-or-death disaster scene was somehow transformed into near-comedy through his constant back-and-forth motion.
Still, thanks to his efforts, what should have been a catastrophe with massive casualties ended with nothing more than a scare. By the time the violent explosion reduced the entire mansion to rubble, all the students had already been safely relocated to the lawn.
From their perspective, it felt as though they had barely blinked before suddenly finding themselves outside.
Hank recognized Quicksilver and asked, "Where did you come from—"
Pietro shrugged. "I came looking for the Professor. I thought he'd be here."
Only then did everyone truly register that the mansion behind them had been completely destroyed. Hank's expression darkened.
"They took Charles away…"
At that moment, the students' attention shifted to Raven, who had reverted to her blue-skinned true form.
In the face of danger, she had instinctively dropped her disguise, exposing her identity. The students recognized her immediately—and responded with admiration and reverence.
In their education, Raven had always been presented as a hero among mutants.
Seizing the moment, Hank smiled and said, "They admire you. And right now, they need you."
As an old friend, he still hoped Raven would stay and join the school.
However, Raven gently but firmly declined. "No. That's not what they need."
As she spoke, she shifted back into her human appearance.
Even so, her brief display earned cheers and applause from those around her, and her attitude subtly softened.
Just then, the four-student truancy group returned by car.
Seeing the devastation, Scott Summers (Cyclops) asked anxiously, "Has anyone seen my brother, Alex?"
Quicksilver looked around. He didn't recognize the name Alex and replied, "I think I got everyone out."
They searched again—but Alex was nowhere to be found.
After a moment of silence, Hank spoke grimly, "When the explosion happened… Alex was too close."
Scott completely lost control. He ran into the rubble, fell to his knees, and sobbed uncontrollably while calling his brother's name.
Jean Grey and Kurt Wagner followed him. All that met their eyes was utter ruin—no one could have survived an explosion like that.
To be honest, Havok had been far too reckless.
Everyone could tell Apocalypse was not someone to provoke. Raven and Hank hadn't acted—but he charged in headfirst anyway.
His power worked at range, yet he insisted on getting close.
As a result, before Quicksilver could even attempt a rescue, Alex was already engulfed by the explosion's flames.
Every student in the academy survived—except him.
Overcome with grief, Scott Summers broke down completely.
---
Just then, the sound of helicopter blades echoed overhead.
At the same time, a broadcast rang out:
[Please remain calm. Medical personnel are on their way.]
Under the wary gazes of the mutants, the helicopter slowly landed.
But the people who jumped out were not doctors in white coats.
They were heavily armed soldiers.
The students of Xavier's school were confused. Moira MacTaggert stepped forward first, producing her identification.
"You're just in time. I'm a CIA agent—"
At that moment, Raven spotted the final man stepping out of the helicopter—the commanding officer.
Her expression changed drastically as she shouted a warning:
"Everyone, stay back!"
Quicksilver turned his head in curiosity—and in that very instant, the commander gave the order:
"Open fire!"
The soldiers immediately raised their weapons and pulled the triggers.
They were not using conventional firearms, but specialized weapons that emitted a form of sonic energy. Once fired, the surrounding mutants—including Moira—collapsed to the ground almost simultaneously.
Only Jean Grey, Scott Summers, and Kurt Wagner, who were among the ruins, escaped the attack.
"Stryker!"
Outside the screen, Erik Lehnsherr stared coldly at the commander who had ordered the attack.
He recognized him immediately.
A vile man who spared no effort in persecuting mutants.
Wolverine had been ruined because of him. In the future footage revealed by the light screen, William Stryker was also one of the most relentless and malicious enemies of mutantkind—an ever-present specter.
At first, he had worked under the dwarf Bolivar Trask. Later, after Wolverine altered the future and Trask was eliminated, Stryker somehow continued to thrive—persisting in his human experiments on mutants without restraint.
A true scourge.
One that simply refused to disappear.
