Chapter 4 - Friends?

Nicole jumped up to his window side and watched him change from his casual clothes into his nightwear after having a bath which unfortunately she couldn't see. From the carnival, she had warded off most nightwalkers from following the trio snarling and hissing at them to inform the creatures that he was taken and since she had a sunlight ring, they respected her and backed off.

She had retreated a far distance so that the witches wouldn't be able to track her after he had handed over the stuffed animal to her. Then she had followed his scent on the stuffed animal and found him once again. Her obsession with him was growing every second. She was acting weird for a human who probably would never love a beast like her and even if eventually did, she'd have to watch him die of old age while she continued living as she was.

Love between humans and vampires was almost like a curse, nightmare but she did not care. She wanted to be cursed by this boy and never wake from this nightmare.

She tilted her head to get a better view of what he was doing as he laid on his bed. She cursed their inability to enter without permission and in her struggle to look at him, she had rattled the branches of the trees that stretched to his window side and he had gotten up immediately. It was dark outside and he couldn't see her but she could see him. She saw him approach the window but she didn't move, she wanted him to notice her and hopefully invite her in. She was a lonely vampire and definitely needed attention and company.

Scott reached his window and pulled the glass up almost falling backwards at the sight of the figure that sat there looking at him. A face he had hoped never to see again but there she was sitting on his window, spying on him and there was no telling how long she had been there.

"What do you want?" He asked in a whisper not wanting his parents to hear him talking to someone.

She was a vampire so she had to hear him even if he mumbled the words, after all they had very sensitive ears.

"Invite me in" she played along with the whispering game her words almost throwing him off balance.

"Invite you in?" He repeated hoping he hadn't heard correctly but she repeated the same words.

"Invite me in" she said again nodding eagerly to his words earlier.

He wouldn't dare, he had heard way too much about how cunning and deceitful vampires can be and he wasn't planning on being the foolish boy whose family was killed because he had let a vampire into his home. Hell no, that wasn't going to be his story.

He eyed her, giving her the look that clearly told her that he was not stupid not by the slimmest of chances.

She immediately read through his expression, she has lived for seventy five years and she knew every possible facial expression and what it meant but nevertheless, she did her best to convince him that she wasn't like the rest, that she was good to some extent but her stories weren't getting her anywhere. His face hadn't changed and she couldn't help but notice that he looked good in every face he made.

He had finally gotten tired of standing and listening to her and had made to slide down his window glass when she said something.

"If you don't let me in now, then I'll have your parents for breakfast" Nicole threatened. She felt bad having to use this tactics to get through to him but as expected, he had let her in and she felt overjoyed.

The smell of him, being alone with him, she was acting like a child. Which she was judging from the lifespan vampires had.

Scott's heartbeat escalated the moment she stepped her foot into the room and he had began to perspire uncontrollably. He wanted to reach for his phone and call his best friend but even if he managed to call him, before he could reach here they all will probably be dead. He walked to his study table and stole the drumstick that laid on the table slipping them into his back pocket before she could see. If by any chances she decided to misbehave, then he was going to stake her with the drumsticks. He wasn't sure it would work but he didn't have any other choice.

She stopped her gazing and finally sat on the bed, the two of them staring at each other without saying anything.

"What do you want?" Scott finally asked breaking the silence. Why wouldn't she just let him be, it was moments like this that he wished he wasn't as good looking as he was right now.

"I want to be your friend" she started, when she was human, she was obsessed with vampires and other supernatural creatures believed to only be for stories. But now that she was a vampire, her interest had drifted back to humans and this human had interested her above others.

"You want to be my friend?" He repeated always wanting to make sure he wasn't hearing wrongly. She nodded frantically answering his question. She was definitely different from other vampires and acted more human like than the rest he had seen. They were always cold and always wanted to act cool and dominant but this one was rather submissive, she wasn't cold, she acted more like a human being and it made her appear more dangerous.

Her being able to keep up with this human like attitude meant she was a master of deceit and he could only imagine how many people she had tricked into becoming her friend only to end up eating them for dinner.

She walked closer to him, now pinning him to the table, their bodies almost touching as her cold air washed over him sending shivers down his entire body.

"I like you" She whispered while leaning even more closer, her nose and her lips caressed the side of his neck while her cold exhale tickled him but he didn't flinch.

Scott reached for his back pocket with his shaking hands, this was the perfect opportunity to stake her, now that she was close enough and wouldn't react to his movement. But her lips were so close to his neck that he felt that any uncalculated movement could lead to a bite and he had retreated hoping she wouldn't bite.

She saw the drumsticks sticking out of his back pocket but she didn't mind, it was for self protection and she was aware of it but even at that, drumsticks wouldn't do any damage to even a newly bitten vampire not to think of one that had been one for fifty seven years.

She ignored the sticks, inhaling in his nice scent while blowing her mild cold air on his skin. She had gotten carried away with her obsession not even knowing when her fangs had began growing but she had gotten a hold of herself, drawing away from him before she was tempted beyond her control.

"So, friends?" She asked, her cheerful returning to her face.

Scott took in a deep inhale, relieved that he wasn't dead before nodding slowly in agreement hoping she'll leave afterwards and luckily she did but not without promising him that she will be back.
