Zack, Josh, Ray, Kylie, and Lily were crossing the basement, their footsteps echoing against cold stone as they passed through a series of narrow corridors.
The air was damp and smelled faintly of rust and mold. Flickering lights from torches mounted on the walls cast long, twisted shadows that made every corner feel like it was hiding something ready to jump out at them.
After several tense minutes, they finally stumbled upon what looked like an underground laboratory.
Broken tables lay scattered across the room. Rusted tools were strewn across shelves, and shattered glass littered the floor. Old cages lined the walls, their iron bars bent and warped, as if something had once tried to claw its way out.
Yet despite how eerie the place looked, there was nothing there.
No monsters.
No ghosts.
Not even a wandering soul.
Ray let out a long breath and rubbed the back of his neck. "We've been running and walking around in here for ages. Why can't we spot a single monster?"
