"Ren, what happened?" Leonel demanded the second he dragged Ren into the farthest corner of the room. He pulled him so quickly that Ren barely had time to steady himself.
Ren shrugged, his face calm as always. "Nothing… it just… happened."
Leonel stared at him like Ren had just spoken an alien language. "Nothing? NOTHING? You confessed to Evie yesterday, Ren. Yesterday. And now you walk in holding hands with Saya and say nothing happened?!"
Ren didn't respond. He simply let out a slow, quiet breath. He couldn't tell the truth. Not yet. Saya's warning rang in the back of his mind—if he slipped, if he told anyone about their deal, she could very easily post Evie's video online. She would do it. Ren saw the look in her eyes.
Until he found a solution, Ren had no choice but to play along.
"I told you," Ren repeated, voice low. "Things just… happened."
