"I'm glad that you're doing fine, at least," Saya said gently, shifting the topic. "Anyway, I'm here to tell you something important."
The soft shine in Saya's eyes made Ren uneasy. He recognized that look too well — she had come with a purpose. A heavy one. And the fact that she waited for hours only confirmed it.
"What is it?" Ren asked, checking his watch with a bored expression. "Make it fast. It's getting late."
". . ."
A brief silence hung between them.
Saya's face softened slowly, like she'd made a decision she couldn't take back. That alone made Ren's stomach tighten. He didn't like where this was going.
"I can't believe I'm saying this out loud," Saya whispered with a blush. "But . . . I love you, Ren," she finished softly.
". . ."
Ren didn't flinch, blink, or react at all. His face remained stony.
"Is that all?" he said flatly. "Then I'm sorry, I don't feel the same way."
