"I heard that you went to the Principal's Office during lunch," Evie finally spoke when she and Ren were both seated inside her car. Her hands were firm on the steering wheel, her brows lightly drawn. "Is something going on?"
Ren had expected that question the moment he stepped inside. Evie didn't get the chance to ask him earlier since the class had already started by the time he returned. She couldn't whisper a thing during the lesson either because their instructor mercilessly threw in a surprise quiz, which immediately trapped all her focus and erased every thought except surviving the exam.
Knowing there was no point in hiding anything from Evie, Ren told her everything—what the Principal said, the warnings, and the reason they had dragged him all the way there.
"I see . . ." was Evie's only response once he finished.
Ren blinked. "You don't seem surprised."
