While Ren and Saya were still talking near the fire, Evie was busy piling food onto her plate. She picked a bit of everything—roasted meat, grilled fish, fruit skewers, even thick slabs of bread dripping with butter.
The smell of smoke and spice filled the air, making her stomach growl despite the tension she still felt lingering from earlier.
Ragnar joined her a moment later, towering beside her as she stacked another skewer onto her plate. "Are you getting that much?" he asked, arching a brow when he saw the mountain of food she'd gathered.
Evie nodded without shame. "I'm hungry," she said simply, then paused as her eyes flicked toward the fire. Ren was still seated there with Saya, their figures half-lit by the flickering flames. "You left them alone?"
Ragnar's brow rose slightly, his tusks glinting in the firelight. "Is that a problem?"
