Another round of earthquake spell.
Bumping against heads. Elbows smacking into ribs. Knees shooting straight into a stomach.
None of it was Ren's idea of a romantic gesture.
Still, he kept quiet. He didn't move, didn't push, didn't even sigh. If he so much as raised a hand or said the wrong thing, his carefully built relationship with Evie could crumble to dust. One wrong slip—intentional or not—was all it would take to ruin everything between them.
So, he endured.
Until the trembling finally faded, and the violent shaking of the earth stilled. The air settled into silence broken only by their breathing. Ren and Evie both exhaled, rubbing at the parts of their body that had taken the hits during the quake.
When their eyes met again, the distance between them had vanished. Their faces were only a breath apart.
