Roxy, Rox, and their Thief were still several meters away from where Ren stood when another Gelatinous Cube oozed out of the shadows, blocking their path.
Before they could react, more came from the sides.
"Shit!"
They were surrounded.
Roxy scanned their surroundings, panic twisting her chest. The Cubes were inching closer, their green glow flickering like sick light through the fog. There was still a one-meter gap between the monsters — barely enough for a person to squeeze through.
If they were quick, maybe they could make it.
But one wrong move, and those sticky, acid-filled hands would grab them.
Roxy hesitated. She could feel Rox's nervous breath beside her, the Thief trembling behind them. Her mind screamed to move, but her body refused.
The monsters advanced, their gelatinous bodies rippling with each step. Their slow pace only made it worse — every second stretched endlessly, like a nightmare that refused to end.
