A few days passed.
Morning sunlight spilled through the blinds of Ren's small apartment as he scrolled through the e-sport news on his tablet. Every headline was about the same thing — the mass construction of guild buildings across the city.
Everywhere he looked, it was the same faces on-screen. Scar. Silvia. Other rich kids bragging about their luxury guildhouses — pools, theaters, training domes, and private dorms that looked more like five-star hotels than player housing.
To outsiders, it looked like a dream — paradise for gamers. But Ren knew better.
Those rooms and perks only applied to the top ranks. The lower members? They'd be packed in tiny rooms, five or more sharing a single space. He'd been in enough guilds before to know how things worked.
He sighed and turned off the tablet. His breakfast was nothing fancy — leftover food heated in the microwave. He ate quickly and wiped the table clean before heading out.
