I could understand that. It explained the Jumper's erratic power and his strange, haunted nature. "But what about me?" I pointed a finger at my own chest. "Why did she target me? Why curse my channel specifically?"
"Because she felt a danger coming from you that she didn't even feel from the Jumper," his eyes shone again in that terrifying ruby-like light.
"Me?!!" I jumped back, the idea feeling absurd. "Didn't you just say they were extinct?"
"I told you they were sealed in a space that defies time," he said with a light shrug. "And that action wasn't done out of desperation alone. It was a strategic retreat. They are waiting for a saviour—someone who can bridge the gap, crush the walls of that space, and safely carry them back into the flow of time."
"And you think that's me?! No way!!!" I shouted, pointing at myself again. The idea was preposterous. I was a man trying to fix a communication network, not a cosmic liberator.
