"My spies were all killed strangely before this battle started," Fang said, dropping that heavy piece of news at the worst possible moment.
My eyes widened as I looked at him. Damn! Why didn't you tell me this a bit earlier?!! I felt a surge of irritation. Information was the lifeblood of this war, and he had just admitted we were blind.
"All of them?" I asked, my voice tight. "You don't have any eyes left on the outskirts at all?"
"Not a single one survived," Fang said, shaking his head in deep disappointment. "I don't know how they pinpointed them so accurately. But for some reason, they suddenly discovered every scout and killed them while the vanguard was moving in. It was a total blackout."
"This…" A name suddenly popped into my mind, a variable I had dangerously marginalized during my initial calculations. "Damn those Angels! They really did something nasty this time!"
