I actually never thought about anything regarding what to do about my school life other than just following my schedule and to graduate but now am now thinking of doing something different from my schedule.
As I was looking at my schedule on my laptop, Maria came back from outside holding a plastic bag.
"I hope I didn't kept you waiting for long?" She said as she placed the bag on the table.
"Not at all,you came back just in time" I said as I looked up at her.
"In case you're wondering what am planning to do on spring break, I was hoping to spend my freedom for the last time with you and your friends" Maria said as she walked towards my bed.
"What do you mean by last freedom?"I asked confused.
"You know what I mean,am about to get married and I won't be free to do things like I have been doing before so can we do something together please "she pleaded as she looked at me with a pleading smile.
"Ok but I have no plans yet,but I'll see what I can do before your highness gets married "I bowed dramatically on my bed.
She smiled before she walked away with the bags and I went back to continue with my work.
As I was scrolling,I got a notification on my phone,I opened it and saw a video of a car race happening and people were cheering as the race gets started.
The place looked so crowded and suddenly saw a familiar face,I zoomed in and saw Brian getting in a car with someone who was wearing a black helmet.
I tried to look closer but the helmet was dark and couldn't see the person. As I was wondering, Maria came holding two plates of food and looked at me.
"You look distracted,is something wrong?"she asked as she put the plates on the table across the room.
"I just got a video showing me a car race happening and I can't believe Brian is racing"
"Really ? So what are you thinking?"
"What if we go and have a look?"I asked curiously.
"Are you for real?last time I checked its almost curfew and we might end up in trouble don't tell me you're risking your life for something that you might regret later "Maria asked as she looked at me.
"Well it won't hurt if I do something as breaking rule for once right?"
"I don't believe you,you're going to watch a race and risk your time and rather be here and not get caught up "
"Am just curious and you said it yourself that you want to do fun things before you get married so let's start now so are you in or what?" I asked as I got my hijab and jacket on.
"I can't believe you of all people have decided to do something against their own will "
We quickly got ready ,locked our door and quietly walked away from the dorm and entered the elevator.
Luckily we got the place where the race was happening, there were many cars and the place was crowded,some were checking out the cars while others were watching the race on the other side.
Maria and I pushed through the crowd and stood in front of the line , as cars were racing I saw Brian's car which looked a blue Porsche and I heard the crowd screaming and cheering as his car was about to another car,I heard someone calling out Alvaro's name and then a black aventador passed by but unfortunately it didn't win as Brian's car managed to pass the black one.
Soon the race ended and the crowd ran towards the car and cheering as Brian and someone else came out of their car.
The one that was wearing the black helmet happened to be Alvaro and Brian was the one that had won the race. I was confused and wondered what he was there and I wanted to know what was going on.
When out of nowhere,Martha and simran were happy and Martha jumped on Alvaro hugging him.simran gave Brian a bottle of water and he took it.
Then they all walked a way as I stood there without saying anything.
Maria who was standing there,pat my back and I quietly walked away.
"Are you ok?" She asked as we walked towards parking lot.
"Yeah am fine"I said
"Am sure,they didn't ignore you in case you feel like they did "
"I know am just curious to know why they were here, even though am not that close and out of fear I thought something bad will happen but I guess I don't know much about life outside books " I said trying to keep myself calm.
"I know how you feel, I would too have done the same if I saw my fiancé doing this kind of race and to be honest it does look scary from distance "
"True,well at least everyone is safe so let's go back before we end up on the record " I said as we enters the car.
We drove back to the dorm and luckily we were few mintes early before the curfew started.
We slowly walked back to the dorm, I removed my hijab and laid on the bed as Maria went to reheat our dinner which we left behind.
As I laid there I remembered watching Brian and Alvaro racing and how scared I felt seeing them racing against other cars.
Out of nowhere,I felt as strange feelings as if I was seeing a car burning down and I quickly stood up and my heart sank as if I was seeing the same thing happening again even though I don't remember anything about it.
Maria came back and saw me and quickly came to see me and I tried to calm down as I took a deep breath.
"Hey Sophie are you ok should I call someone?" She asked as she looked concerned.
"No am ok, I just got shaken after what happened earlier am going to take a bath and I'll be fine " I assured her, took my towel and went to the bathroom.
As I entered,I splashed my face with cold water and took a breath. I wondered what happen earlier is like I was looking at something similar to today's event but strangely something different happened and I can't remember what it was.
I didn't think much about it and took a quick shower and went back to the room.
Maria was still waiting for me to come back as she was typing on her phone. She glanced back at me as I put the towel out on the balcony.
"How are you feeling now?" She asked as she looked at me.
"Am fine thanks for asking "
"Your phone was ringing and I didn't see the caller "
"Oh!thanks am going to get it now "
I walked to my bed and took my phone as I looked at the screen it was call from Alvaro and a text.
I opened it and saw a picture of him and Brian holding a trophy.
"Congratulations on your win"I texted him and put the phone on the table before I left it rang and Alvaro's name appeared.
Before I could answer it,I got an unknown message from someone.
STAY AWAY OR ELSE....
