Chapter 17 - Seventeen

I wake up slowly, the kind of slow drift from sleep where warmth lingers and reality takes a few seconds to return.

For a moment I stay still, eyes closed, letting the quiet settle around me. The room feels softer in the morning light, the curtains glowing faintly with the pale gold of early sun.

Memories of last night return violently. One moment I was swimming alone, next thing I was inviting him. Then kissing him. Then his...

Urghhh

I groan into my pillow loudly. The way everything had unraveled last night was beyond my thoughts. After Devan had left, I couldn't stop thinking about him and what happened. I didn't realise when I even fell asleep.

I sit up slightly, pushing my hair back from my face, half expecting Devan to walk through the door at any second.

I had suggested morning and it was morning already.

The house feels silent though.
