:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Sorry for the delay over the last few days, guys.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
A sharp, pitiful scream split the air like tearing metal.
Gunfire echoed only briefly before it fell silent again. One by one, Umbrella Corporation militants collapsed to the ground, bodies striking steel and concrete with dull, lifeless thuds. Smoke drifted slowly through the corridor, carrying the smell of gunpowder and blood. When the echoes finally faded, the battlefield was unnaturally quiet.
Only two figures remained standing.
Jill Valentine and Teri stood amid the carnage, surrounded by fallen comrades whose faces were frozen in shock and terror. Blood pooled across the floor, reflecting the harsh white lights above. Teri's breathing grew ragged as she stared around her, disbelief written plainly across her face.
"How… how is this possible?" she whispered.
Her voice trembled—not from fear alone, but from the impossibility of what she had just witnessed. These were trained Umbrella elites. They were not supposed to fall so easily.
Jill's grip tightened around her weapon. Slowly, deliberately, she raised her gaze and locked it onto the figure standing calmly at the center of it all.
Jack.
Her expression darkened instantly.
"Fuck," she muttered, voice low and cold. "So it's you."
Jack stepped forward casually, boots crunching against spent casings and shattered glass. His hands were relaxed, almost lazy, as if this massacre had been nothing more than an inconvenience. A familiar, infuriating smile curved his lips.
"Hehe… what's wrong?" he said lightly. "Don't tell me you forgot me already."
Ada Wong watched from the side, eyes narrowing slightly as she assessed the situation. Her lips curved into a faint, amused smile.
"Interesting," she said calmly. "Earlier you claimed Alice was your woman. Now you're saying Jill is yours too. Your relationships are… complicated."
Jack shrugged, completely unfazed. "When a man is outstanding, complications come naturally. It's a burden I carry."
Jill's jaw clenched. "I don't know you," she said sharply.
Jack's gaze flicked downward, then back up. "That's because someone tried to control you."
He pointed directly at Jill's abdomen.
"That red spider embedded there."
Jill's eyes flashed with anger. "Enough nonsense. Don't think you can deceive me."
Jack sighed, sounding almost disappointed. "Then I'll have to help you personally."
Before Jill could react, the space in front of her warped.
Jack vanished.
And then—
He was there.
Right in front of her.
Pain exploded through Jill's body like a lightning strike. She screamed as something was forcibly torn from inside her. Her knees buckled, strength draining instantly as she collapsed onto the floor, clutching her stomach as her vision swam.
"Ah—!"
Teri cried out in shock and raised her gun, firing instinctively. Bullets tore through the air in a desperate attempt to stop him, though she knew—deep down—it was useless.
Jack moved effortlessly. The bullets never touched him.
He appeared in front of Teri in the same instant, his hand sinking into her abdomen with terrifying precision.
Teri screamed and collapsed beside Jill, body wracked with pain, muscles spasming uncontrollably.
Jack straightened slowly, holding two struggling red mechanical spiders in his hands. Their metal legs twitched violently, sparks snapping and popping as they fought to escape.
"They were controlling you," Jack said calmly, as if explaining something mundane.
His grip tightened.
Electric arcs flashed.
The spiders shattered.
Jill and Teri lay gasping on the floor, sweat soaking through their clothes as the pain gradually faded. Their bodies trembled, nerves screaming in delayed agony.
Jack crouched beside them.
"Now," he said softly, "you can recognize me again."
"Jack…" Jill whispered weakly, her voice barely audible.
Teri swallowed hard, guilt flooding her face. "I'm sorry… I didn't mean for any of this to happen."
Jack helped them sit up, his movements unexpectedly gentle. "You didn't choose this. None of it was your fault."
Jill looked at him, bitterness flickering behind exhaustion. "You took your time."
Jack scratched the back of his head, almost sheepish. "Sorry. I've been busy."
Ada raised an eyebrow. "Busy managing your many romantic disasters?"
Jill shot Jack a venomous glare. "I heard that too."
Teri hesitated before looking at Jack again, her eyes conflicted. "Jack… is Alice really your woman now?"
Jack didn't hesitate. "Yes."
Jill scoffed sharply. "Unbelievable. Shameless. If you want Alice and Teri, fine. I'm not interested."
Jack leaned closer, smile dangerous. "Careful, Jill. I don't mind force."
Jill bristled. "You—!"
Ada sighed and shook her head. "You really know how to turn a battlefield into a soap opera."
"And I'm sure," Jill snapped, "he's got his eyes on you too."
Ada blinked, then laughed softly. "Me? I doubt I'd be that unlucky."
Teri clenched her fists. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as she wrestled with herself. Then, finally, she spoke.
"Jack… I don't mind."
Everyone froze.
"Even if there are other women," Teri continued, voice trembling but firm. "This world is finished. He's strong. He can protect us. I don't want to live in fear anymore. I want stability. And… I like him. I want to stay with him."
She lifted her head and met Jack's gaze directly, forcing herself not to look away.
Jack didn't hesitate. He pulled her into his arms.
"Teri," he said firmly, "I won't abandon you."
She relaxed instantly, leaning against his chest. For the first time in a long while, her heart felt calm.
Jill clenched her fists so hard her nails cut into her palms. "That bastard…"
Ada studied Jill quietly. "You angry?"
"No," Jill answered too quickly.
Ada smiled knowingly. "That expression says otherwise. I've seen the same look on Alice."
Jill turned away. "I don't like him."
"You don't need to explain," Ada replied gently. "Explaining usually means hiding the truth."
Jack released Teri and walked toward Jill.
"You should learn from her."
"Go to hell," Jill snapped.
Jack laughed and pulled her into his arms anyway.
"Let go!" Jill struggled, hitting his chest weakly. "Let go of me!"
Slowly, her resistance faded.
Jack's voice softened. "I missed you."
Jill froze.
Her body went still.
Her voice dropped, resentment and exhaustion intertwined. "You think I forgot? I didn't. I just didn't know where to put it."
Silence settled over the ruined corridor once more.
But this battle—between survival, desire, resentment, and power—was far from over.
