Chapter 208 - Prologue (Volume 8) – Homecoming

Summary:

After the war against the Supreme Kingdom of Aster, Rudel returns home to rest before the start of the new school year.

Although he seeks to unwind in his hometown, family and noble troubles will not leave him in peace.

Meanwhile, someone in the family finds a strange letter addressed to their descendants, leaving a mysterious message for future generations, as if it were a warning of something looming for them.

Exactly what kind of secret could this simple, small family of country barons be keeping?

Characters:

Walt Van Bradford (similar to Kurosaki Isshin from Bleach)

The current head of House Baron Bradford, a territory located almost at the kingdom's borders and on the brink of exile. His family always paid taxes, until it was discovered they were never registered as citizens, being almost ghosts.

Despite existing for less than 100 years, the Bradford family is practically unknown outside their neighbors, as if their existence was meant to be kept hidden.

Sonya Van Bradford (similar to Carla Jaeger from Attack on Titan)

The wife of the Baron's landholder and mother of four children. She was the mayor's daughter, which is why she was betrothed to her husband.

Her husband always comments that she has an enormous rear end and that this is important for giving birth to several healthy children.

Lyle Van Bradford (similar to Shinei Nouzen from 86 Eighty-Six)

The firstborn and heir of the Bradford barony. In the past, he was ashamed of living in the countryside and dyed his hair to fit in in the capital, but after the war with the Commonwealth, he changed his perspective on life.

There are rumors in the territory that the family's future is Rudel and that he should inherit the lands and not Lyle, which infuriates him.

Bram Van Bradford (similar to Kogami Shinya from Psychopass)

The second son of the Bradford family. He has no talent other than his large body, developed through farm work and the knights' academy.

Despite being the second son, he is sometimes mistaken for the older brother because he is taller than Lyle.

Paula Van Bradford (similar to Tachibana Arisu from The Idolm@ster)

The youngest daughter of the Bradford family and Rudel's younger sister, whom she treasures more than her own family.

Upon meeting her, Erselica felt great envy, as she believes her position as younger sister was taken away.

Elaine Von Frazer (similar to Millia Rage from Guilty Gear)

The only daughter of the Count's family, a girl who radiates beauty and elegance like Alisa, but whose cold and unfriendly gaze towards men frightens everyone, which is why she hasn't been able to marry.

When she was at the academy, she was known as the one with the most prominent breasts among all girls from first to third year.

Others:

Russell Stanley (similar to Hamon Caseus from Black Clover)

The chief butler of the Head of Frazer Household, who accompanied his young lady to the Bradford barony on behalf of the Count to affirm the engagement.

Findor Ceret Zel Albalete (similar to Potimas from Kumo desuga nanika)

The current king of the Holy Theocracy of Valhanna, the only place in the world where demi-humans live. Due to the world geopolitical situation, he believes the time for a new world order has come.

General Algren (similar to Furias from Granblue Fantasy)

Belonging to the hobbit sub-race, despite being the same height as a 6-year-old child, he is a full-grown adult.

General Berkeley (similar to Kelvin Urwolf from Shinmai Ossan Boukensha)

The strongest sub-human in his entire country, awarded as the one who could have defeated the Bloody Knight if they had faced each other.

_______________________________

A majestic chamber, a sanctuary of dreams filled with toys arranged like treasures, illustrated books holding entire worlds within their pages, coloring albums awaiting the magic of creative hands, and posters capturing fantastic epics hanging everywhere. The room was so vast that its immensity seemed to devour the solitary presence of its single occupant.

Under the cloak of night, in that colossal princely bed—the one that rose toward the ceiling like a throne and closed with velvet-canopied curtains—lay a woman of ethereal beauty, with hair darker than jet and dressed in a maid's uniform. Beside her, curled up like an expectant puppy, a boy absorbed every word with avid attention.

"The hero shouted with a thundering voice, 'I won't let you hurt anyone else, I will defeat you!' while the vile villain made the castle foundations tremble with his destructive power!"

"The hero and his faithful companion fought with the fury of a thousand warriors, because they knew that their swords carried the destiny of all their loved ones, threatened by the evil of the atrocious villain."

"Bleeding and covered in wounds that shone like medals of honor, the hero raised his sword and declared with legendary echo: 'We won't let you do as you please!' And then..."

The boy's smile expanded like dawn every time the narration came to life. He had heard this epic hundreds of times, but its magic remained intact. He knew every twist of the tale, but that only fed his devotion.

"And he ascended to the throne as king, and they all lived in eternal glory! A triumphant ending for the brave!"

"YES!!!"

He exclaimed with ecstasy, freeing himself from the captivity of the sheets and jumping on the mattress as if stepping on clouds of joy.

"No matter how many times I hear it, this story makes my heart gallop like a warhorse in battle. It's my favorite legend!"

"Really? Mine too. I grew up nourishing my spirit with this chronicle and it has become the backbone of my existence."

"But now the world of dreams calls us. Tomorrow dawns a day of great importance."

"So be it!"

Once the boy sank among the pillows, he directed a gaze loaded with admiration toward the beautiful maid, though his vision was clouded by the imposing silhouette of her large breasts blocking the view.

"Answer me, I need to know something."

"What troubles you, young master?"

The boy's smile vanished like the last ray of sunlight, and his face was tinged with a shadow of melancholy.

"Everyone insists it's an invented fable, that's why it deserves to be relegated to children's tales."

"They claim it could never have happened, that it belongs to the realm of the imaginary. That's why it bewilders me that a grown woman like you gives it credit."

The maid brought a finger to her full lips, and after a moment of deep reflection, responded with carefully crafted words.

"Allow me to illustrate with this reasoning."

"What is history but the record of events that transcended? Are they not traces of truth?"

"Yes."

"Then reflect: if a writer immortalized these events, it means every word contains a fragment of reality."

"My mother insists they're just fantasies to entertain children."

"Your mother isn't mistaken, stories are tales' humanity has forged for its entertainment. But not all narratives are equal."

"Some were conceived to transmit real events, no matter how extraordinary they seem, they are genuine testimonies of the past."

"Due to the primitive technology of their era, it was impossible to preserve reliable records, which is why our limited minds now catalog it as fantasy, because we cannot conceive that such magnificence existed in our time."

"But what guarantees that it wasn't their reality and is now our myth?"

"Oh!"

The boy had a revelation as if a veil had been lifted from his eyes.

"I understand now. My mother and the others aren't denying the possibility, but there's no way to verify it."

"That's right, young master, history and tales are windows to events that deserve to be remembered. It's our duty to discover what's truthful and what's not, and I refuse to believe that the author of this illustrated book would want to deceive souls as pure as yours."

"Hehehe, my spirit feels relieved."

The boy settled like a hero preparing for rest after battle.

"Good night..."

His eyelids, before surrendering to sleep, captured the beautiful image of the maid's face, with those eyes red like apples and her whispering voice that promised to accompany him even in his dreams.

"Likewise, may dreams carry you to wonderful realms, young master Rudel."

My eyes snapped open, bursting into consciousness like a forced awakening.

Before me, the ceiling revealed itself as a cold metal slab, barely concealed beneath a layer of white paint that pretended to hide its industrial nature.

Around me, the usual furniture maintained their silent vigil: the nightstand with its grooves of time, the velvet armchair worn by years, the dark wood wardrobe, and especially that window that acted as the only portal to the outside world.

As I rose, I brought my hand to my head in an automatic gesture, while the last echoes of the dream resisted abandoning my mind.

"What was that?"

Lately I've been having strange dreams.

Dreams that I can't remember the next day. I don't know what they mean, but there are times when they feel vivid and upon waking, they end up being just that.

I sometimes wish life were a dream, because that way I, Rudel Von Bradford, a reincarnated person, wouldn't have to go through so many problems.

But the strange thing about this dream was that before waking, I heard my name; I also saw a woman's face.

I feel like I've seen her, but I don't remember where.

It was so real it was frightening; the dream was the strangest of all because I remember the final moments.

I might be going insane and need to take pills for schizophrenia.

Well, I won't think about it, since today is the day.

After exercising a bit upon getting up, I went to brush my teeth before heading to breakfast.

"Good morning."

After leaving my room, I went out into the corridor to go to the dining room; I ran into some maids, sailors, and robots who were working furtively as always.

Sometimes I feel that while others work and I do nothing, it's a crime. As if I were an exploitative boss who pays misery wages to his employees.

But no one has complained until now, so I'm a good boss, right?

I reached the dining room and opened the door; the first thing I saw was a scene that was surreal at first, but is now commonplace.

"Please, I don't want to work anymore."

"You must; we eat and live here for free for now, the least we can do is clean something."

"But we're guests; guests don't clean!"

"Guests clean what they consume and don't make mess like others, nor do they spend all day sleeping."

A beautiful woman with short blonde hair and green eyes was scolding a girl of small stature, similar to a child, with carrot-colored hair and a pitiful gaze.

The "girl," so to speak, was Erselica Van Reinfield, my cousin from my previous life and a reincarnated person like me, and the other girl was Sara Ciel Rosenberg, one of my fiancées.

We were returning home after what happened in the Supreme Kingdom of Aster; Sara barely set foot when she told me she wanted to help with something. I told her it wasn't necessary, but she insisted and I told her she could help.

She grabbed Erselica as an assistant because she saw her rubbing her belly and eating like a cat on the bed; anyone would be annoyed to see that.

Erselica saw me and begged for help; I made a "sorry" signal and she started crying.

"Let's serve the breakfasts."

"Noooo! I want to enjoy my laziness before it's too late!"

A couple of days have passed since we left the current Republic of Aster, following the events with the Sacred Tree and the Great Nobles, as we stayed to help with repairs.

On that day, I killed again. Not only did I kill soldiers or knights. I killed civilians, servants who were just doing their jobs, officials who were just following orders, and nobles who were idiots, but who were part of a government that was the center of the country.

I destroyed it and now it's in ruins because of me.

After that day, I've decided to take different types of pills, but for some reason I spit them out, and the reason for that is because I've become more insensitive.

I no longer smile naturally; I must force a smile so they believe the moments we spend together make me happy.

That day, something in Aster also died: my last trace of humanity. Now I can't deny it, but I'm a killer like all the other monsters.

But... I don't want that to torment me; I accepted my sin, I accepted that I killed and will kill again in the future, but I don't want to get used to it, or else I'll become a monster.

Therefore, I'll just live my life as I want.

"You look very happy this morning, master. Did something good happen to you?"

I heard an electronic masculine voice from my side; I turned to look and there was a gray sphere with a red LED eye the size of a softball.

His name is Ixion and he's an artificial intelligence from ancient humanity.

"Happy? Well, it's a beautiful day, why shouldn't I be?"

"You're right, but I think it has to do with Erselica being put to work against her will."

"You're right, that's the reason."

"Breakfast will be served shortly; enjoy the last day you have to eat the exclusive food you want."

Ixion said that because tomorrow we'll officially enter the Kingdom of Altfode, our home.

The servants and sailors are accompanying us for certain guests and they'll leave after disembarking.

We'll stay with my family because I want to spend the last days of vacation relaxing at home.

"Good morning, Rudel."

"Good morning, Rudel-san."

"Good morning to both of you."

Entering the dining room with an aura of elegance were my fiancées.

Two beauties with different hair and status.

Alicelotte Von Bismarck, the duke's daughter, looked at me with those intense, strong wolf-like red eyes that hid a capricious girl at their core.

And the blue eyes of the commoner Irisdina radiated kindness and friendliness.

Alisa and Airi were excited because we're returning to my house after a year.

"Rudel-san, I couldn't sleep because tomorrow is finally the day."

"You should sleep, Airi; lack of sleep is bad for physical and mental health."

"I know, but I'm very excited."

"You're like a child going on a field trip."

Alisa rubbed Airi's head as if she were a pet.

The reason for the trip home is because of them.

I wanted to return to the capital and wait, but they wanted us to go home to rest after what happened; I wouldn't mind a vacation, is what I said.

I want to sleep in my own bed again and know how my family is doing, since I haven't seen them in a long time.

I was about to sit down when a maid called me.

"Rudel-sama, you're requested in Her Majesty the Queen's quarters; she wishes to speak with you before breakfast."

"Understood. I'll see you all shortly."

"Don't be late."

"Don't be disrespectful, you mean, Airi."

◇◇◇

The most important person after the king, Queen Lecia Von Altfode, came aboard the ship to return home as quickly as possible; there were no other aircraft available, so apologies were given and she was given two rooms, which were remodeled within 1 hour.

The interior exceeded any luxury expectation: a palatial suite where crystal light illuminated walls lined with ivory-colored silk. A king-size bed with a jet-black velvet canopy dominated the space, flanked by ebony nightstands carved with mother-of-pearl inlays. Heavy velvet curtains framed the window, while a Persian tapestry covered the marble floor. In the corner, a mahogany desk supported a vase with fresh orchids, and the subtle scent of sandalwood and new leather completed the sensory experience.

And resting her hips on a spacious armchair while drinking tea was she, with her long blonde hair that reached the lower part of her back, her brilliant navy blue eyes that recalled the very sea, and with a beauty that no one could believe she has a son and is over 30 years old.

Queen Lecia took a sip of her tea while looking at her son, who was sitting in his provisional work chair.

Her son, with silver hair and purple eyes, the crown prince Liam Von Altfode, was the very personification of involuntary chaos.

For almost two years now, she and the entire palace have felt their mental health deteriorating and aging at an accelerated rate.

That's because common sense was escaping from their ears.

The queen was angry, but she didn't want more wrinkles to appear that, according to her, she had.

"Liam, I want you to reconsider."

"I refuse, Mother."

By her side was his right hand, a boy with long hair and green eyes, Frey Van Nightray, who watched the situation with cold sweat.

He couldn't say a word and just stood like a statue.

His mother's anger was evident this time.

"Liam, I'm telling you to think about your position. You're the disinherited prince."

"Right now you should go home and start studying to regain the confidence of the palace and the nobles."

"That's why I don't want to go, Mother," said the prince looking at her with a smile, "I want to have fun, there are few days left before classes resume and I want to enjoy what freedom I have left outside the palace."

The queen got seriously angry; she furrowed her brow and looked at him angrily.

"Liam, asking to stay at Baron Bradford's house without prior notice is discourteous and also inappropriate. I'm not disrespecting them, but they're a barony and you're a prince."

"You must understand your position. You lost the support of the lords; now you must regain it slowly when you speak at the entrance greeting for the new school year; you must not waste time on vacations you always have; understand, please!"

Almost begging, his mother told him those words; Frey remained stiff as a stone sweating cold.

Liam continued smiling and responded calmly:

"That's what I'm doing, Mother; I want to go to Baron Bradford and express my gratitude for being cared for by his son, is that wrong?"

"In the barony, which is the safest place because Rudel and Ixion will be there, is better than being in the palace, where surely many still hate me and will try to go after my life."

"Isn't it better to stay with them, which is safer than the palace? I think you should do it too; it would help you relax and avoid your hair falling out."

The queen checked her hair because she got scared thinking that stress was finally sucking away the young life she still had.

She calmed down seeing that the slightest of her hairs were still there, but her fury toward her son didn't diminish.

She was so angry she wanted to slap him and make him see reason, but she never raised him properly and feels doing that would be worse.

The queen can only surrender and ask the baron to take care of him. Something that would be very embarrassing for her.

She covered her face to hide her tears that started to fall and, with evident pain in her words, murmured:

"What wrong did I do for you to turn out so stubborn? Not even your father is so stubborn to understand when something is wrong around him."

Liam stood up and approached her, giving her pats on the back, as if it were some kind of consolation prize.

"Mother, I know better than anyone that my reputation is bad, but I must improve it myself. To be a good king and win people's trust, I must win their stomachs; therefore, in the barony, where there's livestock and vegetables, is where I should practice my culinary skills and thus become a ramen master before being a king."

"That doesn't even make sense! Do you realize how ridiculous you sound?"

"It's my fault, isn't it? I was a terrible mother and I'm being punished for this. I always knew eating chocolate during pregnancy was wrong and I couldn't help it. I'm so sorry; it's my fault you turned out like this."

"Let's go to breakfast, Frey."

"Y-yes."

Frey followed Liam after showing his greetings to the queen.

"Oh, Rudel, what are you doing here?"

"The queen summoned me."

"She's surely going to scold you; what did you do now?"

"Don't compare me to you, Clovis."

"Her Highness is inside; you must wait for them to come out first."

The door opens and Liam greets Rudel.

"Rudel, my mother is sad now, so don't make her feel worse than she is."

"I'm sure it was you; you always make others suffer because of you."

"It's not my fault; she just insists that I don't go to your family's territory."

"Then don't go!"

"It's not up for discussion; I must practice my culinary skills and I can only do it in a place with many ingredients and without security."

"My house is not your personal kitchen!"

Rudel entered and greeted the queen, who was wiping her tears.

"G-good morning, Marquis; I'm sorry you see me in this state."

Rudel sighed while giving her more tissues.

"Why don't you let me hit him so he gives up? I can make him sleep and when he wakes up he'll be on his way home."

"It's useless; he'd escape somehow. It's better to let him do what he wants and have him return voluntarily."

"I feel like I'm seeing something that would make any noble want to stage an insurrection."

"Me too, but let's change the subject. I called you for something."

With her composure regained, Queen Lecia finally told Rudel why she summoned him.

"Marquis Bradford, as you know, we're about to enter the kingdom's territory. Since we'll take separate paths, I want to take the opportunity to tell you something you'll undoubtedly hear in the capital."

Rudel guessed what it was without her having to say it.

"About the Aster war, right?"

"That's right," nodded the queen with a serious look in her eyes.

"Aster was a powerhouse in every sense of the word, and after picking a fight with you, things ended badly; surely the populace and nobles must think that due to some whim, or because they made you angry, is why you declared war."

"What I want to ask is that you refrain from now on from seeking problems and fights with other nobles."

"Surely the fear that you could end them, as you did with Aster, is something engraved in their brains."

"There are things I can do to help you, but you're the one who must prioritize your image. Try everything possible to be social so the fear of the ignorant doesn't become something you can't stop."

(The queen really cares about me, it's as she says. Alisa told me the same; surely the news spread quickly and everyone must think I'm some kind of monster, since the real details of the war weren't included because only the palace and I know.)

"I don't want to hurt anyone; in fact, I don't want to do it again. I'll strive to improve my image; I promise you."

The queen smiled from ear to ear upon hearing that.

Then she stood up and approached the door.

"Since I, my husband, and Mayer left to come here, we left the palace empty; there's no one with authority to give orders; I want to prevent someone from trying to generate power while we're absent."

"Since Mayer is negotiating with Lord Randolf, he'll be late in returning; then there's my husband, who only used it as an excuse to laze around abroad."

"The palace cannot be left without anyone at the helm; that's why I must return as soon as possible without losing a single day."

Beating his chest, Rudel declared:

"Don't worry; if there are problems with those idiots, just tell me; I'll make sure they don't cause you problems upon your return."

"That's why, that bothers me..."

She said while locking the door.

Lecia turned and this time it wasn't the strong gaze of a queen, but the blushing face of a maiden.

With clumsiness and hurried steps, she approached Rudel and sat beside him.

With her fingers she began to play with her hair and, with a red face and a clumsy look, said embarrassed while looking at him:

"It bothers me that we can't have a single moment for ourselves."

Her hand slowly moved to Rudel's, intertwining her fingers with his.

"Since I came aboard this ship, I was looking for at least one moment to be together. If I asked to call you every day it would be really suspicious; even if I did it periodically, it would be even more suspicious."

"While I thought we could see each other somehow, time slipped away here."

"Tomorrow we'll return to your parents' territory and I'll return to the palace without delay."

She placed her head on his shoulders and enjoyed the intimate moment they were having.

Lecia had a secret lover relationship with Rudel because, according to her, it was the only way to guarantee Liam's future protection for when he becomes king; although she says that, much of what she does seems to be just what she desires in a romantic relationship.

"I wanted to spend time with you like this and could only think of this pathetic excuse to have a moment between the two of us. I'm sorry but I felt really alone."

Rudel touched her cheek, rubbing it delicately.

"I also wanted to spend time with you; here I spend time with my fiancées, but seeing them flirt with me is surely torture."

"I-it's not that I get jealous that you and they have moments where you flirt; it's normal to do that, but deep down, I, at least, wanted to be with you on the deck, under the same blanket, on a freezing night. Is that too much to ask?"

Lecia, when she activated maiden mode, acted like a capricious lovesick fifteen-year-old, wanting to experience the romance she never could obtain.

Therefore, all her logical actions are eliminated and only a bunch of romantic thoughts remain in her head.

(I even wanted to sneak into your room and sleep together, but I was too afraid that Alisa or one of the other girls would do the same and discover us.)

(Especially meeting your parents; I'd like to say 'nice to meet you, I'm your son's partner,' but the shame I'd feel is so great it prevents me from saying that.)

Lecia, after hiding her true thoughts, said to Rudel:

"After this embrace, we won't see each other for a while; I don't even know if there will be a bit of freedom for me to see you in secret."

Rudel lifted her face, which was still tearful, to give her encouraging words.

"I told you, didn't I? That this is an agreement between us; therefore, I will make sure to make it reality."

"I promise you that, in what remains of these vacations, I'll use the opportunity to see each other and have a date just for us two."

"I promise; I'll make you happy, Lecia."

Upon hearing those words, the queen's heart beat strongly; she hugged him because she truly knows he's a man who keeps his word.

She stopped hugging him and closed her eyes to give him a passionate kiss where they intertwined their tongues to form a bridge of saliva upon pulling away.

The satisfaction in her gaze indicated how much she enjoyed these moments with him.

"You promise, right? You'll give me our first date at home?"

"I promise. Since you're the only woman I haven't taken by the hand in the kingdom."

Winter was about to end, but the desire of both to have an intimate moment between them was so great that it occupied a large part of their thoughts.

Since it was already time for breakfast and surely everyone was waiting for them, they decided to give each other a farewell kiss before parting until they meet again.

◇◇◇

Once Rudel went to breakfast, she waited a while and then covered her face in shame while rolling on the floor.

Now that she left maiden mode and returned to herself, she realized what she was doing.

"Aah, you've done it again, Lecia! Once again you've prioritized your romantic delusions over reality."

"You're an old woman and he's a young man with fiancées. It's true he's legally of age and there's nothing wrong with that, but he's a boy the same age as your son! One who doesn't think about your feelings and only ruins his image."

"But you have a husband, even if he's an unfaithful idiot who despises you..."

After hearing her own words, she stood up and walked toward the mirror.

"Half a year ago, we both crossed the line between queen and subject. Between man and woman."

She said this while observing her body and beginning to make sensual poses unintentionally.

"I mean, he says he likes this old body and everything he says makes me happy. If he just wanted to play with me it would be fine, because that way I'd know there's nothing sentimental, but he says he wants to be with me and for me to join his women."

She brought her finger to her mouth while thinking about it.

"You're a bad boy, Rudel-kun, asking a lady like me to join your nighttime activities that you'll have with all those beautiful young women."

"Surely they all still preserve their purity and lost it with him, unlike mine. It surely was a wonderful moment for them that they'll remember with a smile for their entire lives, unlike mine, which marked the beginning of my unhappiness."

She stopped touching her lips and began analyzing her face and belly.

"This is the face and belly of a woman almost 33 years old; he says I look very young and don't appear my age. He's almost 18 years old, so soon he'll be a man within noble society."

"You shouldn't get jealous of some girls. It's true I have a family, but I also deserve to be happy. I deserve, even if just a little, some happiness that was denied to me; what's wrong with that!"

She exclaimed while clenching her fist.

"That's right, Lecia, you shouldn't feel like you're doing something wrong when you too can have a lover! If that man even found out, he'd probably pick his nose and place it on your dress, as he always does, to show he doesn't care what you do."

"You were the one who made him a man, so it's your responsibility to continue with this until the end. In the not-too-distant future, you'll be able to hold his hand in public to not feel like you're doing something wrong. Just endure a while and you'll soon strike that idiot's pride and shout 'you lost me forever'; yes, I'll do that without fail, fufu."

The queen began to laugh strangely along with a strange smile.

"That's right, Leonis, it's your fault for neglecting your wife! I want to see the face you'll make when you learn that the man you hate stole your woman and you'll just stand watching without being able to do anything, fufufu."

She also noticed the perverse smile she was making and quickly changed it.

"Oh no, I made that face again. Let it go already, Lecia. No matter how much you hate that man, it's no reason to torment him. Let's go to breakfast; surely Liam is waiting like he did as a child."

The queen recomposed her smile and left the room directly to breakfast.

(That's right, Lecia, you shouldn't worry about anything. You deserve to be happy; avoid feeling jealousy and anger; that guy is an idiot and they're just girls compared to a real woman like you.)

◇◇◇

In the dining room, where everyone was enjoying lunch,

Queen Lecia was chewing her toast in a terrifying way.

Her eyes were bloodshot, her beautiful face transformed into that of a witch and she showed her sharp teeth every time she chewed.

All while looking in a certain direction.

"Rudel, say ah."

"Rudel-san, you haven't finished eating my dessert."

"Everyone, stop, please; they all want to feed me and I can't handle so much food."

Rudel was being fed by his fiancées, and Lecia watched him fixedly, full of jealousy.

(He's feeding him by mouth! We didn't even do that when we were alone!)

(I never did that even with my son, and they're all sickly sweet enjoying feeding him.)

(But how envious I am of that! I also want to feed him and have him let me taste his food and laugh about how his cheek is stained like theirs.)

(I don't think I can stand dinner and snack time if they'll be that clingy with him too!)

The queen's thoughts were filled with envy and jealousy toward Rudel's fiancées.

But the others near her were frightened.

Liam and Erselica's friends, who were at the same table and nearby, were terrified seeing how her hair rose with the anger and hostility emanating from her.

"Your Highness, calm her, please."

"Liam, I'm scared!"

"M-mother, did what I said earlier make you so angry? Or did Rudel make you angry?"

Everyone blamed Liam for making her angry, so they sacrificed him so the queen's wrath would calm down.

Due to her frustration, she took her son's arm and took him to her room, where she gave him such a big scolding that even the nearby ships could hear a woman's screams and a child's whimpering.

Only when night fell did the scolding end.
