Maximilian didn't bother explaining. His gaze stayed steady as he spoke again, voice low and measured.
"Don't worry about Vincent calling you in for questioning today," he said calmly as he slid a blank paper across the desk, along with a pen. "Write up. I'll deliver your notice to him."
The man in front of him squinted his eyes at the blank paper and the pen, but then lifted his gaze to meet Maximilian's when the latter continued, "Oh, right. This is because I have another task for you."
He let out a quiet sigh before speaking again. "Since you've proven yourself to be a capable spy," Maximilian said evenly, "I need you to look into Vincent's dealings in the Underground City."
A sharp glint flashed in his eyes as he finally addressed the man across from him.
"Garth."
