Clyde blinked, clearly not expecting that. His face twisted slightly in confusion, "Okay… and…?" he asked, genuinely not catching the deeper meaning behind the request.
Ryley let out a slightly shaky sigh. He looked up, his brown eyes pleading as he tried to explain. "I know she's so mature and understanding for her age. I just… I can't help but feel guilty. Especially lately."
He paused, his gaze drifting down to his own belly, his voice cracking just a little as he went on.
"I couldn't carry her myself. I didn't get to raise her, and I missed so many of her moments. And yet, she still accepted me as her madre, even though I haven't been able to give her half of what Nathan did. So…"
