Sunday — Early Winter Morning
(MICHELLE LUI'S POV)
I woke up smiling.
Not the soft kind.
No.
The full-blown, idiotic, teenage-princess-in-love kind.
Because yesterday — our first real date — had been warm and sweet and quietly perfect.
Steven hadn't held my hand, but at one point, when we reached the overlook and the wind pushed my hair across my face, he reached out… then stopped… then pretended he wasn't reaching out at all.
Which, somehow, made it even sweeter.
And then he almost confessed.
Almost.
My heart still hadn't calmed down.
Today was supposed to be Date #2.
Something simple.
Something warm.
Something soft again.
I had even curled my hair a little.
Just enough for plausible deniability.
That was when my phone buzzed.
