Chapter 3 - The Daring Warlock

C03: The Daring Warlock

[GRANT]

Gideon used his magic to roughly and mercilessly choke king Edison, shocking everyone in the room. The lycan king coughed, but all that faded when his face began turning pale and his hands blue.

Gideon seemed to be enjoying it so much, while staring at Delbert, as if to tell the werewolf warrior that this was who he was. This bad and cruel protege.

Grant was watching curiously and yet hopelessly as his junior warrior got the attention of the mate he desired with all of him. It was driving him nuts, but patience was a thing he had been sure to learn in the few hours he had known his mate.

'Release him, please' Delbert mouthed to Gideon.

Criselda tried to break the barrier between Gideon and Edison, but she couldn't. In his anger, Gideon had created a wall between them and the rest.

Criselda could do nothing.

King Cassius was confused.

Zelina looked like a proud sister.

Grant was in shock.

Ulrike was smirking openly, almost like this is what he had wanted to do and couldn't do.

Suddenly, the lycan warriors rushed in, raging. Their king was being disgraced, and they would not let this happen. However, Gideon didn't give a shit about that. He was openly challenging them, while he tightened his hold on the lycan king.

"You dare lay a finger on ME?!!!!!!!" King Edison boomed.

Instinctively, the lycan warriors bowed from the amount of power that the lycan king was letting on, but Gideon just stood there, bored and staring at the King with disgust, almost as if to ask the king;

"Is that all you got?"

The lycan king of Udrad looked at Gideon and once again, he was met with stone-cold eyes that didn't give two shits about him and what had just happened. He thought Gideon would cower in fear like everyone was, but Gideon didn't flinch.

Bored, Gideon let down the barrier and stood there, waiting for people to descend on him with their insults and spears, but no one said anything. Even Grant was no longer giving him judgemental eyes, which was crazy.

"Your protege lay a hand on me, Criselda, you know what this means," King Edison began but Gideon interrupted him angrily, and worse, with all the disrespect he could manage today.

"If you want a war with the witches of Greroth, just say it like a man. We fucking came to make peace and this shit could have been avoided if you just told us the truth about the beast you forgot to put a fucking leash on.

"And before you threaten Greroth, think of the repercussions of what happened here tonight," Gideon said before turning to the lycan warriors who were just standing there, his lips curling up into a smirk.

Anyone could see the witch wasn't done with the King.

This was between Gideon and Edison, and they all could see it.

"I wonder if your lycan warriors will still be loyal to you once they know that you created the beast of the midlands. If they realize that it was your doing that brought forth the abomination the midlands is now seeing even today.

"It was all your fault all those years ago and it is your fault still. But maybe they won't say anything to your people back in Udrad, because they are worried for themselves. I wonder if you remember that I am a witch too.

"Don't try shit with me Edison, or you will get to watch your whole world crumble. Keep in mind that if you want war, we will give you war," Gideon concluded with a jab on the king's chest.

He hadn't realized it yet, but he had been so angry that everyone had been quiet in the room.

His anger was nothing that they all had encountered before. Anyone could see that this was personal for Gideon. This was something that he had wanted to do for years. The beast must have taken someone special from him for him to hate lycans that much.

"Gideon—" Criselda finally called out to her son who was fuming.

However, from what had just happened, they could see that Gideon was powerful, but what kind of witch would cross all odds just to make things harsher for one of their own in the supernatural world anyway?

"Let's go home, mother. Let's leave this place," Gideon pleaded with Criselda.

"Okay, we will go home, but you need to rest," Criselda said to Gideon who just nodded.

"Excuse us."

Quietly, Criselda pulled her son out of the conference room and walked him through the endless warriors who were just starting, unsure of what they needed to do. With Criselda and Gideon gone, they looked at each other.

"We need an explanation, Edison," Zelina said before dismissing the warriors, including Grant and Delbert.

The night was quiet in Acrod, with everyone else trying to come to terms with the fact that they had all felt the presence of the beast of the midlands. He may not have walked right into Acrod, but his growls had ripped through the midlands like a warning.

'I hope he's okay,' Grant thought to himself, just as he saw Criselda and her son next to where he was, the guest rooms. So he decided to listen in, besides, it wasn't like there was anything else that could be worse than the beast right?

"You need to learn to control your anger, young man."

"He started it!" Gideon said angrily and Criselda openly stared at her son.

"Started it? Seriously? What are you? Five? Four? Or maybe three? Fuck, Gideon, what the hell am I missing here? We came for the fucking peace talks and here you are, angry as always, ready to burn the very ground the stupid lycan stands on!

"We need to sort out the issue of the beast, or should I remind you why we are here, huh? Maybe I should just spank your ass with my sandals so you can use your fucking brain! Think, child. Think. We can't solve anything if we keep adding on to more chaos!

"Goodness, one of these days, you will be the end of me you little brat," Criselda angrily ranted, but Gideon wasn't about to budge.

"Look at him, Criselda. He's just sitting there like he didn't just—" Gideon said angrily as he pointed back to the conference room.

Gideon was fuming, and clearly wasn't about to calm down anytime soon, though that would be for the benefit of everyone.

"I know. I know, son. But we can't achieve anything if your anger ruins everything now, can we?" Criselda said to Gideon, ignoring the fact that the little ingrate had called her using her name.

"I hate him, y'know. If I could, I would eliminate him here and now. He makes me want to stab him over and over just to see whether he always feels pain. If only there weren't any stupid accords.

"One day I will get my hands on him, and not even the whole of the Udrad kingdom will be enough to stop me," Gideon said, his tone so cold and murderous that even Criselda was worried and scared of him, not that she would show him that.

"Gideon—" Criselda called him defeatedly.

"I'm sorry," Gideon suddenly said, the sincerity in his voice making Criselda take a pause.

"What?" The high priestess wasn't sure she had heard Gideon well.

"I'm sorry I blew up like that… I can make it right, just tell me how. I—" Gideon ranted, making Criselda smile.

"Sleep, okay? I need to go back in there, and I can't do that if I have to worry about you breaking bones and going out on a murdering spree. Promise me you will behave Gideon, and go take a fucking shower, you reek.

"Goodness!" Criselda scowled at the protege whose face lit up at her statement.

It was as if he was planning something.

"I understand Mother, and I promise. No more trouble from me," Gideon said as he reached out to pull her into a hug, but she wasn't having it.

"You try that and you will be taking the long road home," Criselda said and Gideon instantly pulled back.

He knew Criselda wasn't kidding.

'Ooh so he can be calm too,' Grant smiled to himself as he watched the mother and son.

"Noted mother. And don't let them walk all over you there. If they insist, then I'm just a whisper away from you, never forget that," Gideon said sternly, his voice full of power. Criselda just smiled at the young witch, happy that he was finally calming down.

"I know, now go on," Criselda said as she pushed Gideon in the direction of the guest rooms.

"Don't miss me too much, Mother," Gideon said, a smile craving his handsome face.

"Goodnight kid."

"Goodnight ma," Gideon said as he watched Criselda walk away from him.

The young witch of Greroth watched till Criselda disappeared from his sight, before deciding he also needed the shower and sleep that Criselda had suggested. So walking towards the guest rooms, he hummed a slow song, despite the footsteps behind him.

He was expecting it anyway.

"Y'know I've been told I'm hot, but I never thought I'd be so hot even in Acrod. Maybe it's one of my good qualities."

Gideon could tell that the person behind him was a male werewolf warrior from king Cassius' inner circle. His scent was making the witch uneasy, almost like it was calling onto Gideon.

So far, Gideon had only interacted with two warriors, Grant and Delbert, however, he had a feeling that this wasn't about his actions in the conference room.

This was different.

"What you did back there was brave," a familiar voice said, making Gideon smirk.
