The Man:
"I'm going after them," I say, walking past the dozens of turned-over or destroyed cots. While Barry, Oliver, and the others help the sick Atlanteans back onto the cots, I jump onto the Junker. Turning the wheel and opening the hatch, I jump inside and land with a loud, echoing thud.
Walking through the narrow hallway of the Junker, I reach the submarine's infirmary and open the door. As expected, I see the Doc and Iris. Their arms are full of medical supplies.
"Don't worry," the Doc says, "I have all the supplies you need."
"They don't need supplies," I say, "They need you, Doc!"
Grabbing the Doc's lab coat, I start dragging him toward the hatch. As we approach the hatch, the bright light shining in through the opened hatch, I hear the Doc choking on air.
"Wait, wait, wait," Doc begs, stomping his feet and grabbing at the wall. "You know I can't go outside! Please, don't make me go outside."
"Doc, I am sorry, truly, I am, but they need you right now."
"Me? At most, I'm a candy-stripped intern! I'm not a doctor. I'm not even a nurse."
"Yes, but you have months more medical experience than anyone else. Congrualtion."
Stepping into the circle of light, I look up and see the outside world.
"Please! Please, don't make me go outside. I'm not ready yet. I--I can't! I can't! I'm not ready!"
Choking on the air again, Doc grabs his chest with both his hands and tries to keep his heart from jumping out of his chest. Hyperventilating now, and bending forward like he is going to throw up, I shake my head and gently place my hand on the Doc's shoulder.
"Doc. Doc. Doc!"
Still holding his hands over his chest, the Doc looks at me.
"Again, I am sorry about this, but the fish people need a doctor, and both Harleen and Aquaman need me."
Grabbing the Doc's arms, I then throw him into the air, through the hatch, and outside.
"Are you insane?"
Turning around, I see Iris standing in the hallway with me. She is looking at me with wide eyes and an open mouth.
"Don't worry," I answer, "The Doc will be fine."
A few seconds later, Iris and I hear a loud splash. A few more seconds later, we hear the Doc screaming.
"Help," he yells, "Help! I can't swim! Help---!"
Iris's eyes turn blood-red as she looks at me.
"I'll be right back," I say, pointing a finger up. Jumping through the same hatch and diving into the water, I grab the sinking doctor and pull him onto the dock. Soaking wet and coughing up water, the Doc wipes his glasses before looking at me.
"Are you okay?"
The Doc didn't answer me. Instead, he looks around. He sees the infected Atlanteans, the lucky ones who get to lie down on cots while the rest have to sit up. He sees the others, like Oliver, Kara, and even Selina, looking back at him. The Doc must also see the destroyed double doors. He starts panicking again. He places one hand over his chest and the other hand over his mouth.
"Doc. Doc! Come on! Now is not the time! Doc, they need you--"
"Enough," someone shouts. I turn around to see Iris climbing up through the hatch before jumping off the Junker and into the room. I get up to greet her, but Iris runs past me, slapping my arm as she approaches the Doc.
"Dr. Crane," Iris starts, "Please. Look at me. Look. At. Me!"
Iris grabs both of Dr. Crane's hands and holds them. Dr. Crane swallows so loudly that it echoes in the room. Dr. Crane, still choking on air, raises his head and looks at Iris.
"Dr. Crane. The Man is right. I don't agree with how he did it--"
Iris looks past the Doc and at me. Using her eyes, she throws daggers at me.
"But The Man is right. These people need your help. They need our help. I can help you. Whenever you start to panic, look at me. Okay?"
As the Doc looks at Iris, he slowly stops breathing heavily. He looks at Iris, meeting her eyes. Swallowing another lump in his throat, the Doc takes one deep breath before taking one long exhale.
"Okay," the Doc says. "Okay. I can do this. I can do this. First things first, I need all the medical supplies we were holding in the Junker's infirmary."
"Flash," I say, " Reverse-Flash. Move fast and grab those supplies. They're all over the floor."
Reverse-Flash nods. He runs and quickly disappears down the hatch in a second. Flash, however, looks at the Doc. Stepping forward, I snap my fingers.
"Flash. Go!"
"Yeah!"
Flash nods and follows Reverse-Flash into the Junker. While they get the supplies, I turn to Iris and the Doc.
"They're in your hands now," I say. "I'm going go after Harleen and Aquaman."
"I'll go with you," Oliver says, stepping forward.
"No. I'll go by myself. The rest of you need to stay here and defend Atlantis, in case there's any more trouble."
"Are you sure?" Kara asks, looking at me. Looking back at Kara, I nod.
"Yeah. Don't worry. I'll be...fine."
Looking back at Kara and everyone else, I nod and run toward the ocean water. Diving into it, I kick my feet and swim through the freezing water. Swimming down and then up, like a giant U, I quickly swim toward the surface. Getting closer and closer to the surface, only a few seconds from reaching it, I reach into my pocket. Finding the right remote control, I push a button on it. Bursting through the water and launching into the air, the Rogue Shadow appears through another portal.
Commander Eclipse's starship, the Rogue Shadow, flies toward me as I throw myself out of the water and into the air. Landing on the roof as the starship catches me, I drop down, grab the side, and swing onto the opening door.
Walking into the familiar space, seeing the same pilots' and co-pilots' seats, with a holographic table and millions of blinking, flashing buttons, I then hear a nostalgic voice.
"Sir," Proxy-2 greets. "You are...wet."
"Yes," I answer, looking at the trail of water I'm accidentally leaving. "Yes, I am. Sorry about that. I went for a swim before calling for pick-up."
Shaking myself off, droplets hitting and falling onto everything, I take the pilot's seat.
"Sir, if I may ask, where are we? I am not familiar with this planet."
"We're in a galaxy far, far away," I answer, pulling out my cell phone. "Proxy-2, I'm uploading some new programs and data onto the Shadow's mainframe."
Swiping my fingers across my phone's screen, I watch the monitors as Proxy-2 quickly receives them. When I see the bar reach a hundred percent, I pocket my phone and grab the steering wheel. I flip the necessary switches before preparing the hyperdrive.
"Proxy-2, please look up the trackers for both Harleen and Aquaman. Where are they right now?"
"Scanning," Proxy-2 starts, "Scanning. Scanning. Hmm, according to this, the ones called Harleen and Aquaman are flying over the Atlantis Ocean at almost 800 mph."
"Mach 1," I say. "Proxy-2. Adjust the hyperdrive for planetary travel, not deep space."
"Understood. Adjustment should take only a few seconds. Done."
"Then prepare for hyperdrive. We're going after Harleen, Aquaman, and the Android."
"The Android?"
"Different Android, Proxy-2. Not an R2 or protocol droid, but something, someone else."
"Understood, sir. Hyperdrive in 3, 2, 1. Initiating."
The Rouge Shadow then shoots forward. Everything outside the spacestar, the ocean, the sky, the sun, turns into nothing but colorful blurs as Proxy-2 and I head to Central City.
