After about more than an hour, the carriage carrying the coffin of the Alliance Emperor arrived before a small hill outside the city.
Calling it a hill isn't quite accurate, as the entire inside had been hollowed out to construct a massive imperial mausoleum.
There are four such mausoleums; besides the one near Reef Rock Castle, the other four capitals of the Soma Alliance—North Capital, Central Capital, East Capital, and South Capital—each have one. The initial plan was to bury the Alliance Emperor nearby upon his death.
However, since almost everyone believed that the Alliance Emperor wouldn't die young, the construction of the other three mausoleums continued, with only the Shaya Imperial Mausoleum—the earliest begun—being completed.
Because of this reason, many in the funeral procession speculated that the Alliance Emperor sensed it: knowing he would soon pass away, he stayed in Shaya for more than half a year without leaving, to avoid having to be moved after his death.
