In the days that followed, to prevent Julian Rhodes from continuing to hinder her work progress, Scarlett Xavier went to the shop early every day and returned home as late as possible, skipping dinner at home.
One evening, at the dinner table, with Scarlett absent, Mrs. Rhodes asked, "What's Scarlett been busy with these past two days?"
"Busy with work," Julian replied. "She says there's a lot going on recently."
"But she leaves too early every morning," Mrs. Rhodes remarked. "Could it be that she's encountering some problems at work? Why don't you ask her? This child tends to worry by herself and doesn't like to tell others. As her husband, you should show some concern for her."
