Chapter 34 - Chapter 33 – Other Hobbies and Things to Do

Third-person POV

A few hours later, across the gate back in Tokyo, Japan, at 5:30 p.m. Tokyo time, the MPC leaders and their unconventional delegation were having fun at a local shoutengai in downtown Tokyo. Their drivers also partook in this fun time activity while their rented cars are safely parked at the designated parking area. Juan was talking to Tolentino on the phone. Apparently, Tolentino had received the first balikbayan box Juan had sent via airmail, and he was thrilled to see the authentic Japanese snacks and souvenirs stuffed inside the box. "Grabe, baka mahal mga iyan, eh," the Filipino senate president chuckled while munching on his matcha-flavored Kitkat bar. "Perfect ito after natapos ko ang mga tambak na paperwork."

"Yes, po, senate presidente," Juan replied while eyeing for any postcards of Tokyo for everyone in the Philippine Senate back home to have, "hindi mahal po dito, eh. Barato, pero mahal 'pag na imported natin sa Pilipinas."

"Gago ang mga Big Three nations na iyan!" Tolentino doubled over while reaching for a glass of mineral water. "Sisirain nila ang authenticity ng mga ito just for stupid profits and narcissistic overloaded egos!"

Just beside Juan and Boaz, Leo sent 5,000 pesos from his personal savings in a secured Philippine BDO bank account to his EFCA church in his hometown in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro in the Philippines via an encrypted Gcash account and app on his smartphone.

As an Evangelical Protestant Baptist whose membership was in the EFCA, he had been, a few months since he was elected into the highest government position in the Philippines, withdrawing modest amounts of money from his savings for his hometown parish church's construction on the outskirts of Victoria. The church building was a modest, slightly no-frills building with Andalusian front arches for the front doors that a few members who were students of architecture had voted during the planning stages of the building. Leo's father had been a sugarcane plantation owner in Victoria for 5 generations, and he and his wife shared the same faith as their children. Leo's father was currently having a tenure as mayor of town at the same year Leo was elected as president of the Philippines.

Others in the MPC delegation tried different Japanese cuisine and scoured different shops and on-the-street stands for product in bargain prices. Back in the Special Region across the Ginza gate, with the blacksmiths and Falmart knight squads returning to their homes for the night, the first batch of tanned leather from hides of the monsters the MPC agents had shot on their first day in that world was presented by the tanners. They were well-tanned and well-processed. In exchange of transaction, the MPC agents gave out boxes of medicine and picture recipe pamphlets for them to heal up whatever ailment of anyone they knew and to cook different meals for tonight.

The other MPC agents are doing their hobbies to pass the time for dinner to be cooked. Ioanna was painting her fifth watercolor painting on her Japanese-made sketchbook. Renata and her fellow AISE agent Maggia Berta made an oil painting of the sunset landscape of the Falmart countryside. Odesa and her fellow NBI agent were marinating some pork for tomorrow's tapsilog breakfast, and they placed in zip-sealed bags in the mess hall kitchen fridge for overnight marinating. A Greek EYP agent named Liza Bakirtzis (also the niece of Rhea) was preparing the ingredients for a Strapatsada dish. Ruy and Osmanek are whipping up Pan con Tomate and Menemen. James was stirring a pot of hot Filipino-style chicken curry while Cesare was baking pizzas in the Neopolitan style. A few JSDF soldiers and cooks were making their typical Japanese food fare to go along the multicultural foods of the MPC agents.
