Dark was in the kitchen, the soft hum of the refrigerator filling the quiet mansion. He wore loose, dark blue pajamas, the fabric slightly wrinkled, clinging to his relaxed frame. A black headband held his hair back, keeping stray strands away from his face where a pale facial mask was already drying, tight against his skin.
He sucked in his cheek absentmindedly as he opened the fridge, propping one knee against the door to keep it from closing. Cold air brushed his legs. He reached inside, grabbed a box of fresh milk, and slipped a cookie between his lips before nudging the fridge shut with his knee.
