Han wasn't disappointed when he found out that I'm dating Xiao Sheng. In fact, he was happy for me because he too found someone whom he has better connection with. An avid reader like him who goes to his father's bookstore often (it does make me wonder if they discuss books more than anything else). It was love at first sight for both of them. Han told me that he will change his ways to be a better version for his newfound girlfriend. Well, he is of a short-fused person. How do I know? We met up a few more times for coffee after our first date and oh, boy, he can really talk, and snap. I once saw him lost his cool over the phone with someone and I said a little prayer to the person on the other end. I just sat quietly and cringed. I reminded myself to never step on his cute toes. Accidental or intentional. Never. Cringed. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised when he is willing to change to be better (it's about time though). Awareness is the saviour to dooms! Oh, by the way, he also told me that has plans to settle down, maybe, in another year and hopefully, it is with this newfound girlfriend. I couldn't be any happier!
Now, my turn! Hee. Xiao Sheng has a better job offer with five figures. He got headhunted. He now moved to live closer to me. Guess where? Right opposite my apartment because his new workplace is just around my area! Yay! Now, we don't need to travel far to see each other. We can see each other any time we want. Yay! Yay! Oh, oh, there's a bigger surprise. Both Xiao Sheng and I made quite a huge sum of money in our investment. The price suddenly skyrocketed after a period of lows. Looks like the price is staying high for a long time. We drew up a to-do bucket list and travel is the second top after donating some to charity with our blessed wealth. We couldn't be happier! Yay! Yay! Yay! Now, for the biggest surprise - I strike the Jackpot with the numbers which I have been consistently betting on with the highest win payout! The Universe really knows how to surprise us - "Dear Universe, thank you very much for your abundant blessings. I am your forever faithful fan. By the way, may I have an autograph, please?". Hee.
So, now, my mom pays attention and pampers Xiao Sheng more than her flowers and plants. Finally! Ha ha. Of course, the scale is still imbalanced if she favourites him. Tsk.
Eugene wants Xiao Sheng for himself. I kicked his butt hard.
Fish thinks Xiao Sheng is not as good looking as her boyfriend, Peter. I pulled her hair.
Tiff screams happily over the phone when I call to tell her the news. I cried.
"I am over the moon!" Eugene exclaims.
Since when he isn't over the moon – in fact, over a lot of other planets in the universe : Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Mars, Venus. The Sun, cannot, because nothing goes near it. Too hot and dangerous to handle. Anyway, soon he will run out of any planets to be over with.
The little black book which I initiated for him has a separate column for each planet and names of whom he likes to honeymoon with. It became a habit and I would then analyse why he chooses certain planet for the partners. I will later check (by his sharing and pouring) if the chosen planet has any corresponding to his affections for them and maybe, a clue or two of what they might be like.
"Who is it this time?" I let out a small yawn.
"Someone I've just met and you don't know" Eugene is upset with my yawn upon his good news.
"He is someone who has a split personality and moody" cleverly I answer him.
"How do you know?" Eugene straightens up and forgets that he was upset with me.
"I am the fortune teller, remember?" I'm just trying to play GOD.
Pooling my findings requires some work and they are by understanding all the above-mentioned planets' characteristics. Eugene initially thought I was one cuckoo bird for coming up with a silly analysis only later to find it intriguing when I managed to pinpoint something important to him about his partners.
He is truly over the moon as he claims because I have never seen him so gorgeous and crazily in love. Well, it somehow didn't feel quite right though – he swung away from his usual dating norm. He has always been hunted down and never the hunter. This new guy had him behaving mysterious and secretive in some unexplained ways. He becomes a love slave in the hunting game – for the first time.
Tess has not been feeding me about "Stalkee" since her last update (bumping into him again at the car park) and she seemed unusually quiet after that. Maybe her imbalanced hormones stop being jittery and come to their senses, and that perhaps, makes Tess abnormal(?).
I have Eugene and Tess working at opposite extremes. I want them back – their usual selves and my idea of pulling Tess into our group might help their situations – so I thought.
"You!" Tess jaw drops and goes speechless.
"Me!" Eugene mimicks Tess.
"You two know each other?" Fish and I ask together.
Eugene shakes his head looking lost and confused.
"You were the guy who kissed my "Stalkee" in his car that night!" Tess was clearly upset.
"What? Patrick is "Stalkee"?" my jaw drop, way longer than Tess's.
"Who is "Stalky"?" Fish blurrily searches for who-is-it on Tess's and my face.
Then Fish suddenly comes out from her blurry state and let out a long "Oooooooohhh...." before she settles into I-get-it,-Patrick,-Eugene's-new-love-is-Tess's-"Stalkee"-who-is-the-same-Patrick look.
No wonder Tess stops mentioning "Stalkee" to me – she is ashamed that her womanly instinct wasn't set to default and that my mother was spot on about him either being a gay or taken. It is a double spot on.
Eugene doesn't look comfortable as if he has another secret which he keeps it away from Fish and me.
"Look, you were right when you said he has a split personality" Eugene starts his story.
"Go on" I want him to spill it all and chuck secrecy miles away.
"He is actually a two pin plug. He has a girlfriend too" Eugene gulps a lungful of air after he finishes spilling.
Wow! We definitely have blown away night.
