Professor Lonnex shook his head at the compliment. "That's an exaggeration. There are many other professors who can make Pokemon prostheses. Even without my help, Shinx would be able to stand on 4 legs again."
Alex shook his head when he heard that. "Yes, but these other Pokemon prostheses are not made of flesh and blood. It is not comparable to your Pokemon prostheses, which basically regenerate the leg of a Pokemon."
Professor Lonnex gave a small smile upon hearing that. He was very proud of his Pokemon prostheses and he knew that only his Pokemon prostheses felt like real limbs to the Pokemon(s). Although the term regenerate, is not entirely accurate, the end result is comparable to real regeneration and Alex's words are not completely untrue.
Shinx's body was then carried by Professor Lonnex to a strange-looking machine.
Alex looked at the device and watched curiously as the machine began to scan Shinx's entire body.
After this machine is ready Professor Lonnex said, "Ok we're done for today. Come back in three days.
Alex and Professor Lonnex talked for a few more minutes and he gave Alex a warning before Alex left.
Professor Lonnex warned Alex that Shinx was not allowed to train or fight other Pokemon during those three days.
Shinx must remain at level 9 after these three days or the new prosthesis will be too small and will cause some problems.
Although Pokemon can grow even without level-ups, this process is extremely slow and usually, Pokemon only grow bigger as they level up.
The growth increases from a level up do exist but are usually very small and hardly noticeable so that Pokemon's levels can rarely be identified by size from a Pokemon.
Because of this, Pokemon that are already born with an above-average size for their species are almost always larger than other Pokemon from the same species as long as they are at the same level.

During this time, Alex was not lazy and he is, on the black market, still looking for suitable Deep Silver Pokemon, which he can train in Hoenn and later sell when they reach the S rank.
three days was too little time to visit all the black markets in Kanto, so Alex only went to the biggest black markets in Kanto.

150 million sounds like a lot, but for Alex who has a team full of SS-rank Pokemon it isn't particularly much or useful. (excluding Shinx and Larvitar)
According to Alex's assessment, 150 million worth of Pokemon items is just enough to get Ditto or Zweilous up the Diamond rank. just one of those two Pokemon.
SS-rank is truthfully a money-burning rank to improve the potential of even very talented Pokemon.
Even if one trained a Pokemon optimally and that Pokemon had almost 100% effectiveness when using items, it's still way too expensive to even get a Pokemon to the Diamond potential if the Pokemon in question didn't was born with a Deep Gold potential.
That's exactly why Alex didn't intend to continue using all his money to improve the potential of his Pokemon.
After Alex's Pokemon reached a certain potential, he didn't intend to buy any more items for them. He had chosen a sweet spot for each Pokemon's potential where he would stop pumping money into his Pokemon.

In Alex's opinion, this is the sweet spot of all his Pokemon, and going beyond the potential would cost way too much money.
Even reaching the potential of this list, for all of Alex's pokemon, is now impossible for Alex and maybe only possible after several years. Especially getting Zweilous and Larvitar to the Deep Diamond potential will probably be extremely difficult.
Not to mention if Alex can even find matching items that are effective for these two Pokemon when they are at Diamond potential.
An item from an "SS-rank" Pokemon with a Shallow Diamond potential shouldn't be as effective for those two Pokemon when they are on the Diamond rank as it was before.

After waiting three days, Alex went back to Professor Lonnex and Shinx's new limb was connected with the help of the extremely large machine in the middle of the room.
Alex couldn't see what this machine was doing to the Shinx, but from the noise the machine was making, the process sounded extremely painful.
He couldn't really tell from the noises of this machine what exactly this machine is doing, but it still sounds extremely disturbing to him.
Luckily, Shinx was unconscious so that he didn't feel anything this machine was doing to him.
