Joan keeps nagging with her foolish questions. "Paula, isn't there anyone to drive the bus?"
Becoming angry with her nagging, her heart hurts for agreeing to their plan. "Robert, where is Mitch? They are all restless, and I am getting a serious headache."
"Honey, he took my car this morning. I don't know what is keeping him."
"Didn't he say where he was going?" Paula asks.
"I don't think so, all he said is he had an errand to run," Robert replies.
"Didn't you tell him we will be going to the beach?" Paula asks anxiously.
"No, I thought he knew, wasn't he there last night when they were planning this lime?" Robert inquired.
"I can't say," Paula responds. Holding her head in frustration.
Shawney was listening to the conversation between Aunt Paula and Uncle Robert and seeing how they were displeased and disappointed with what was happening. She knew every minute delay would disrupt her plan.
Unable to stand hearing them grumbling, Shawney got out of the bus and went into the house, then returned and sat behind the wheel.
Noticing Uncle Robert looking at her, "Honey, can you drive this bus?"
Seeing his concern, she said, "Just give me directions to the nearest beach, and when it is three o'clock, we will be returning."
"Honey, please, you cannot drive this bus."
Becoming agitated with the complaint, Shawney snapped, then turned to her Uncle, who seemed anxious. "If you all know Mitch was the only one to drive the bus, why did you send him on an errand?"
Hearing them continue to complain as she drives, Shawney slams her foot on the brakes, then turns and looks at them.
"Now, I don't want to hear another word out of any of you; all of you wanted to go on the beach, so we are going." Shawney snapped and then continued to drive.
Watching how she handles the steering wheel with such confidence. Robert, whisper to her,
"They didn't know you could drive; you are brilliant."
"That's what you feel, Uncle, but Aunty Joan knew that I have my heavy T license. That is why she conspired to keep me back."
One hour later, Shawney was parking up on the beach, saying to everyone in the bus, "You all knew I had plans, and you also know how I hate to break them. So by three o'clock, everyone must be dressed and on the bus, or I will be leaving without you."
"You are kidding, right?" Joan laughs as she steps out of the bus.
"No, Aunty, I am not, and I am asking you not to put me to the test?"
Hearing her say, "I come here to have fun, and that's what I am going to do."
"Honey, you don't worry that pretty head of yours, as long as I am on the bus, we can go."
"Dad, why do you encourage her?" Julien snorted out.
"I am not, I just don't want to be left behind, is that too hard for you to understand?" Ken responds.
"Julien, just leave him alone, you know anything Shawney says he agrees." Shantel taps his shoulder as she walks out of the bus.
"You are right, Sis."
"Child, don't you think three is a bit too early?" Robert questioned.
"Uncle Robert, I had to break my plans, and if you don't know those people, I do; this has been Aunty's plan all along."
"Why do you say that, child?"
"Uncle, Aunty Joan overheard me telling Mitch that I will be going to Torren after lunch. I tell you, she is very wicked. I know this is all her doing, trust what I say."
"But honey, she didn't have any idea you could drive the bus."
Hearing her laugh, "You could believe her acting, I know she plotted this."
"You mean she knows you could drive?"
"Yes, she does, when I was home at the end of January, Aunty thought I went for a walk, which I did.
When I returned to get my purse, I saw her going through all my documents, my heavy T driving permit was in that envelope."
"Then I believe you should keep this with you," Robert says, giving Shawney her pouch with her driving permit.
Taking her pouch, she takes a stroll towards a shed. Seeing how few people were on the beach, with a few passers-by. And on weekends it's full, but this is the middle of the week.
Looking at her sisters, almost half-naked, not a care in the world. Shawney drinks a cold Fruta and just relaxes.
When the person spoke, thinking it was Uncle Ken, he was asking me, "Why are you angry with them, my child?"
Wondering, 'Why did Uncle ask me that, when he knows how they misbehaved with her?'
Turning backwards, to respond to his question, there was no one around. I was in the shed, but then the voice spoke again.
Shawney knew immediately that it was the Lord, closing her eyes when He said, "They are your family?"
"Yes, I know that, but they fail to realise I am a part of it, just look for yourself how they carry about themselves, I am ashamed to be with them."
"But you haven't shown them, Christ?"
"Lord, if others could see You in me, why can't they? I have done everything to make them happy, and I am always the bad one. I am sorry if you are displeased with me, but I will keep on praying, it is You who has to open their eyes, and change their hearts."
"Who are you talking to, Shawney?"
