Elara sat on the rough stone floor of The Seraphyne prison. Humans and The Seraphyne never shared prison cells; and the elite , like herself, were imprisoned in the basement.
Elara felt tears in her chest; she felt the need to break down and cry, but that wouldn't help her in this predicament. She also knew that her siblings, family members, friends, and the Blue Dragon's Member wouldn't help her.
Lest that's what she thought.
The door opened, and light appeared in the dim room where only a mattress, small bathroom, and dresser encompassed the cell. Slow, calculated steps made their way down. Elara pulled her knees to her chest, and had begun to shake, and feared it was Red, Harley, Orion, Spike, or Cassian.
She had no idea what would take place. Suddenly, a silhouette was seen, and Elara side glanced the person, and the tension in her stomach went away.
She sighed in relief and stood up, her hands rested on the cold bars.
"Wow, it's you. I didn't expect to see you down here."
"You need to listen to me," the voice whispered. "Listen to your father. Do what he wants."
"What?" Elara scoffed. "How could you take his side?"
"I'm not on his side, Elara, but you must understand that he is the most powerful Seraphyne. He possesses extraordinary powers that even I cannot explain. Everyone thinks he's a God! Your father is cruel, sadistic, and evil, and he enjoys every second of it."
"So, you want me to just tell him I'll succumb to my powers? The ones that are from his ancestry?"
"Yes. You want to defeat him, don't you?"
Elara nodded. "Yes, more than anything! He is marrying off Lyra soon. I .... I don't want to be caged to a man! Look what he did to my mother!"
The voice shushed her. "Then make them think you're on their side, and learn to use their teaching and strategies against them."
"I don't know what you mean."
"I'm running the rebellion," the voice whispered.
Elara gasped.
"No! No way!"
"I am. You let them train you, and then join me. The only way to defeat Blue is to use his own powers and training against him."
Elara nodded. "He's training Serene, though. She has psychic abilities."
"Then we need to do less talking. No one must know I came down here. I spoke too much already," the figure turned to leave. "Blue is going to come soon and ask you again, and tell him yes."
"The worst thing that'll happen is I refuse and he keeps me down here."
"Elara, your father has done atrocious things to many people. He even made your mother hurt people to protect herself. If he orders you to die, no one will protect you. No one can. They either respect him too much or are too scared of him."
"Why aren't you scared, then?"
"My fears left when he took someone important away from me," the voice whispered hoarsely. "I have to go. I've said too much. Just say yes! The rebellion is going to happen soon."
"But ---"
The figure quickly exited and was no longer seen.
Elara sighed and sat against the wall. She knew what she had to do.
If Elara wanted freedom to live life how she wanted, by no one else's terms except her own, she would have to take the training and defeat her father. She loved him, and that was something she struggled with, but she was also not a stranger to his callous teachings, beliefs, and punishments. She wasn't even sure her father loved her the way her mother loved her children.
Elara wasn't sure Blue had the capacity to love anyone.
Even Ivory loved Orion, who was just ruthless as Blue.
Elara saw the door open again, and heard quick and aggressive footsteps.
She knew it was her father; the very man who locked her away like a princess in a tower, all because she told him no. He couldn't handle it and threw a tantrum.
She wondered if her siblings, except Orion, were secretly fearful of their father.
"Elara," Blue said coldly.
Elara nodded. It took her a few seconds to say the words, but she finally formed a sentence.
"I'll do it," she peered into the empty blue sea of his eyes. "I'll let you train me. I have to control myself and my emotions."
Blue nodded. "Your training begins tomorrow at 6 AM. You must realize the family you come from; you want to do good in the world, then you need to be well equipped and be able to use your craft well. I'm not saying be ruthless like me, but when you become a leader, you will make decisions you won't be happy making."
Elara looked at him.
"You and Serene need to understand that life isn't all rainbows and ponies. That's what your issue is. Orion was harsh, but he was trying to tell you the truth. You're destined to be a ruler whether you want to be one or not. The entire world expects you to continue my lineage. They won't be kind to you for it. Maybe will hate you. That's the price you pay for greatness."
"It is?"
Blue nodded. "Lots of humans want to be where you are; servants, big room in a mansion, infinite wealth -- many want to be part of the elite. You need to understand that you're a Blue Dragons Member, dear. You always will be. Your mother took some time to adjust, and she turned out well."
Elara nodded.
"Remember what I said; you'll remain down here until you're advanced enough to not cause any more damage to the family. And you need to think about who is really a friend, and who is a foe. Many will respect you, even envy you; many will fear you, and some will hate you. Some people here don't have your best intentions. Be smart with your abilities and don't do anything stupid."
"I understand dad," Elara said.
She wondered if her other visitor could be trusted. But she didn't fully trust her father either. He had a warped sense of reality.
"Are you hungry?" he asked.
Elara thought for a moment. "I'm not sure. I'd like water."
"I'll get you some light snacks. A lot has happened; you're probably stressed out."
Elara nodded.
"Come here."
Elara stood up and faced her father; the barred door between them. He grabbed her hand into his bigger, rougher one, and held it tightly. He held her head with his other hand, and brought her closer.
"Don't let me down," he said.
Elara nodded. "I won't, dad."
Elara knew that was a lie.
