Chapter 21: Plum Blossom Recruitment – The First Five Disciples and a Midnight Promise

Plum Blossom Peak buzzed with new life within days of its official founding.

Word of Zain's Ninefold Violet Thunder Tribulation—and the unprecedented feast that followed—spread like wildfire through Misty Cloud Sect. Outer disciples whispered about the "rainbow genius" who could turn heavenly lightning into nourishment. Inner disciples debated whether to apply for transfer. Even a few core elders quietly observed from afar, weighing the potential of this sudden new branch.

Zain posted the recruitment notice on the sect's central jade board at dawn:

Plum Blossom Pavilion Recruitment

Seeking disciples of any realm with: open heart, strong will, willingness to grow together.

No bloodline requirement. No arrogant young master nonsense.

Benefits: personalized guidance from Core Formation Sovereign, shared qi arrays, access to unique fusion techniques, family-style feasts every full moon.

Interviews held at Plum Blossom Peak – today, from sunrise to sunset.

By mid-morning, a line had formed at the sky bridge entrance—nervous outer disciples mostly, a handful of inner ones who'd grown tired of their own pavilion politics, even one rejected core disciple candidate who'd heard rumors of "no face-slapping required."

Zain sat cross-legged on the central pavilion steps—casual gray robes, rainbow embroidery glinting in the sunlight. Hinata sat beside him, gentle presence calming the applicants like a soft breeze. Lirael stood to one side—frost aura subtly intimidating the arrogant ones. Toren lounged against a plum tree, arms crossed, sizing up physiques like a coach scouting talent.

They interviewed one by one.

First: Mei Lin, a shy outer disciple with average fire-root aptitude. She fidgeted, eyes downcast.

Zain smiled warmly. "Why do you want to join?"

She swallowed. "My pavilion elder… says I'm too soft. Too kind. But I want to be strong without becoming cruel."

Hinata reached out, touching her hand gently. "Kindness is strength. Welcome."

Mei Lin's eyes filled with tears. Accepted.

Second: Jian Wei, burly outer disciple with earth affinity—built like Toren but with less confidence.

Toren tested him with a casual earth-pressure palm. Jian Wei held firm—barely.

Toren grinned. "Good foundation. Needs polish. In."

Third: Lian Xue, inner disciple transfer—water-ice dual root, haughty at first.

Lirael tested her with a frost mirror duel. Lian Xue lasted three exchanges before conceding gracefully.

Lirael nodded once. "Pride can be tempered. Accepted."

Fourth: Xiao Yun, a rejected core candidate—lightning affinity, arrogant smirk fading when Zain casually dispersed his strongest thunder palm with a single rainbow-threaded finger flick.

Xiao Yun stared. "How…?"

Zain shrugged. "Practice. And no ego. You in?"

Xiao Yun bowed deeply—first time in years. "Yes, Sovereign."

Fifth: little Ruo Lan—barely fourteen, orphaned outer disciple with no notable root but unusually pure qi sensitivity.

She stood trembling before Hinata.

Hinata knelt to her level. "What do you dream of?"

Ruo Lan whispered, "To… have a family again."

Hinata hugged her without hesitation. "Then you already do."

All five accepted.

By sunset, Plum Blossom Pavilion had its first disciples.

They gathered in the central courtyard for the official induction—simple ceremony under blooming plum trees.

Zain stood before them, team at his back.

"Plum Blossom Pavilion isn't about hierarchy or face. It's about growing together. Helping each other. No one gets left behind. We share techniques, resources, meals, laughter. If you stumble, we catch you. If you rise, we celebrate with you."

He extended his hand—rainbow qi threads blooming like petals.

One by one, they placed their palms against his.

Qi linked—gentle pulses of connection.

The system chimed:

[Branch Disciples Recruited: 5/5 – Objective Complete]

[Plum Blossom Pavilion – Official Lineage Established]

[Bonus: +1,000 SP (Recruitment Milestone) + Sect Contribution Points +500**

[Team SP Pool: 5,200 + 1,000 + bonuses = 7,000+]

[New Passive: Pavilion Synergy Aura – All Plum Blossom members gain +10% cultivation speed when training together]

Night fell.

The new disciples retired to their assigned quarters—eyes bright with hope.

The core team gathered on Zain's private balcony—stars above, plum petals drifting below.

Hinata sat between Zain's legs, back against his chest, his arms wrapped around her waist.

Lirael leaned against the railing, frost patterns tracing the jade.

Toren sprawled on cushions, sipping spirit wine.

Zain rested his chin on Hinata's head.

"Five disciples. A real branch. Feels… official."

Hinata tilted her head back to look at him. "You gave them what I always wanted. A place to belong."

He kissed her temple. "We all did."

Lirael spoke quietly. "The sect will test us soon. Other branches won't like sharing resources."

Toren grunted. "Let them try. We've got lightning-proof Sovereign, ice queen, earth tank, and gentle fist goddess. Good luck."

They laughed—soft, warm.

Hinata turned in Zain's arms, facing him.

"Zain… promise me something?"

"Anything."

"Even when we get stronger—even when more people join—don't forget this. Us. The quiet moments. The promises under stars."

He cupped her face gently.

"Never. You're my first. My heart. My forever. No realm, no power, no tribulation changes that."

She smiled—radiant, certain—and kissed him.

Slow. Deep. Full of quiet vows.

When they parted, she whispered:

"I love you."

"Love you more," he murmured back.

Lirael raised her glass silently.

Toren toasted with a grunt.

The plum blossoms continued to fall—soft, endless.

In the deepest logs of God Domain:

Plum Blossom Pavilion – First Bloom Complete.

Primary Consort Bond: Eternal Vow (Stage 2 – Deepened).

Next Conflict: Incoming.

The peak slept.

But the spark—now a blooming tree—reached higher.

And the multiverse felt its first gentle tremor.
