Liam approached Melanie and with a graceful gesture , he posed his hand on his chest and bowed in front of his savior.
_ « I , Liam Edgard Drikson fifth prince of this kingdom, am very grateful to you for saving our lives, i hope in the future i would be able to repay properly this kind friend favor , thank you very much . »
Melanie didn't understand exactly what he was saying ,she only spotted a name from his incoherent sentences, his name probably , but we can tell from his gesture , that he was either apologizing or thanking her , why would he apologize to her ? He was most probably thanking her for saving their lives .
Melanie tried to remember the sentence , it would be helpful to start learning this world's language from those humans , then she nodded to the man in front of her .
Seeing his savior nodding , Liam felt appeased , as a prince he would surely repay his debts towards anyone .
Meanwhile, the rest of the group was silently observing the little « exchange » between their savior and their leader . Seeing that the headless Carver responded Jane got an idea .
_ « It seems that he can understand what we say , maybe he can help us find the flower . »
It was the archer who responded first .
_ « Do you expect him to help us ? Don't forget he is a monster, an undead who hates humans at that , it's a miracle that he currently saved our lives , we shouldn't ask for something more »
_ « He doesn't seem like the other monsters, he is somehow different » .
The three companions , turned their heads towards the voice , Cal was sitting on the ground just behind them , his back leaning on a tombstone , his leg was injured but it wasn't deadly , he just had to drink an elixir and wait some minutes for the wound to heal .
_ « Ohhh ! Our cold-hearted assassin took a fancy for the headless Carver » said the archer with a teasing tone .
_ « Fool , I'm just stating the facts , didn't you realize that this monster is not that simple »
_ « I know , an undead who saved humans , no one will believe that »
_ « Anyway , I'll try to ask him for help » As Jane said that , she took off a paper from her bag and headed toward the headless Carver .
Melanie spotted the girl approaching them with some quick steps , and when she arrived in front of her , the girl bowed .
_ «Thank you for saving me earlier , my name is Jane , a mage with fire affinity. As you may know, me are here to complete a specific mission. We all went in the lost land , to fetch an important flower , and.... We...would like to ask you for your help »
Melanie didn't respond , she couldn't , beside the name « Jane » and the « Thank you » sentence , she didn't understand the girl's words.
Jane didn't wait for any answer , she just showed Melanie the paper she held in her hand .
_ « Please , can you help us find this flower ? »
The girl pointed at the drawing of a flower on the paper , Melanie was quite familiar with the plant , she used to see it when she explored the Lost land, but she didn't think that the little flower would be so precious for them to risk their lives for it.
Melanie looked at the girl , then at Liam ,who was standing silently at the side all the time ,she turned around , and gave them a quick head gesture , asking them to follow her .
Jane was so delightful , he agreed to help them , Finally ,they will be able to save their friend .
Liam turned his head toward his companions and said to them .
_ « We will leave this plain , the headless Carver will lead us to where the Whitebloom is . Cal , are you able to stand ? »
_ « I am , the pain is gone,I can walk »
The group was ready to leave and quickly they followed behind Melanie . Not like the first time , they only left one meter between them and the headless Carver . It seems that they are more comfortable around him now .
They didn't walk for long , until Melanie stopped in front of a bunch of flowers near a big gravestone , in the middle there were some beautiful white flowers that glowed in the darkness .
When she saw the flower , Melanie took the opportunity to ask the system about it , and as quickly as usual , it responded in her head .
(Whitebloom ; a flower only found in the Lost land , gathered with other herbs , it could be used to prepare an elixir to fix a damaged soul )
Whitebloom may be useful for humans , but for Melanie it's not , besides needing other herbs to fulfill the effect , you must know how to prepare elixir , and that it's out of her league .
Jane collected the flowers , then followed by the rest of the group , she thanked Melanie with a big smile . Now , that they have found what they seeked for, it was time to leave . Escorted by Melanie , the group headed to the Boundaries of the Lost land .
The lost land was separated from the rest of the world by the fog , as strange as it could be , the fog doesn't fade the more you advance toward the boundaries it still as thick as in the center of the Lost land , the only thing it changes is the temperature , it becomes less cold .
On one side of the borderlines there is a thick fog , on the other, a large green plain . The group left the fog and stepped on the plain , but then they noticed that the headless Carver stopped following them , they looked behind to see their savior still standing in the fog .
_ « It's time to say goodbye to each other »
Liam and the rest of the group bowed one last time to their savior before departing .
Melanie continued looking at them until their figures disappeared . Melanie wanted to follow them and explore the human society but it was impossible . It was, on one part , because of her appearance , and on another part …..
Melanie raised her hand, and placed her opened palm in front of her, she could feel something hard and smooth under it ,Melanie tried several times to leave this place but unfortunately , it was like the Lost land was surrounded by an invisible wall that entrapped the fog and monsters who lived there, but it seems that the outsiders are free to enter and leave the land .
Strange , What is the purpose of that invisible wall ? Did someone imprison a powerful being in here and made sure he would never escape ? The Lost land is really full of mysteries, even its name is quite strange , why "Lost" ? Why not just the undead land or the cold land or something else ?
A lot of questions with not enough answers , but for the moment , there is only one thing Melanie was sure about ,that she hated it, she hated this situation , being imprisoned like a bird in a cage , she won't accept it .
Although , for the time being , all her attacks on the wall, didn't have any effect , but maybe if she become much stronger , she may be able to break free from this land.
Melanie turned her attention on her status ,when she "talked" with those humans she made sure to remember some sentences that she could understand the meaning like "thank you" or "my name is" ,and then she got a skill from the system (Skill Fast learning Lv1) , a useful skill Indeed . Also, when she rescued the group , beside the ghoul , she also killed some zombies , that why she was able to level up until she reached level 20 , and again a familiar sound resounded in her head , she didn't take the time to see the new message, when she was fighting and "discussing " with the human , but now she can , and it was a wonderful surprise that came at the right time .
