Si Xia, who had been tapping away at his mobile with one hand, his other around Yu Chen, looked up after about twenty minutes as who he could assume were Xiao Hai's family came rushing towards him.
He carefully laid down Yu Chen on the bench, who had fallen into a deep sleep, and stood up. "How is my husband Mr. Si? Where is he?!?!" Mrs. Xiao hysterically asked Si Xia as soon as she was close enough.
Si Xia calmly replied, "He's in this room Mrs. Xiao. 203. He's unconscious right now, but the doctor has said that there's no danger. And none of his injuries will have a lasting impact." He had barely finished when Xiao Hai's wife had launched herself through the door and into the room.
Xia turned and bowed at the other person, who looked like he was Xiao Hai's father. And sure enough, he introduced himself with a bow, "President Si. I am Xiao Hai's father, thank you so much for informing us. Could you tell me what exactly happened?"
A few minutes later, Si Xia had narrated the entire tale to Mr. Xiao. "That's what happened. I am extremely sorry that something like this happened while he was working for me. I shall be covering all his hospital expenses, along with paid leaves for as long as it takes for him to recover." Xia finished.
"You rich people really think that money is the solution to everything huh? You expect us to be thankful just because you're covering Hai's medical expenses?!?! Is that all my Hai's life is worth?!?!?!" Si Xia and Xiao Hai's father turned surprised as Mrs. Xiao shouted. She had come out of the room at some point and had heard who knew how much of Xia's story.
"It's not like . " Si Xia began, but his words were cut short by Yu Chen as she said, "This is all my fault. I am terribly sorry for putting Mr. Xiao Hai through something like this. I agree that money can never compensate for what he did. And I am truly thankful that he decided to save me from those muggers. I am willing to do whatever you say to show my gratitude and my remorse for what happened and what Mr. Xiao Hai did."
Chen knelt down on the hospital floor in front of Xiao Hai's wife as she finished and bowed her head.
"Chen, what are . . . " Si Xia began, but he stopped when Xiao Hai's father walked forward. He was ready to defend Chen if the man tried anything, he didn't care that he was his senior.
But Xiao Hai's father only walked forward and lifted Chen to her feet. "It's okay child. I am proud of my son that he tried to save you rather than just running away for his life. It shows that I raised him right. You don't need to apologise." He turned to his daughter-in-law and added, "You should head home now. The kids will be worrying, I'll stay here with Hai in the night and you can come back early tomorrow morning. "
"I'll leave once I've had a word with the doctor." Xiao Hai's wife said, giving a side eye to Yu Chen, who once again bowed in apology.
