Chapter 26 - Chapter Twenty-six; Wolferan

Wolferan sighed silently looking at Leanunya who had refused to talk since that disaster during yesterday's lunch. He had managed to gain some of her trust and got her to talk fairly freely but now she wouldn't even reply to him. He had no idea how to salvage this. He had pushed too far in his questioning and instead of answers he got nothing but silence.

He had tried several ways to get her to talk but to no avail. He had seemed to cross a line of hers but what that line was he had no clue. This left him stewing in his own frustration and confusion. He sighed and figured he could only wait for her to talk to him. Perhaps he could get her to talk again by letting her ask him questions? He didn't know though as she seemed determined to stay silent.

He had let her rest an hour after that disaster before he carried her continuing to fly on their way to Rynion. He had kept silent during the flight but once he landed for the night and made a camp fire he had tried getting her to talk. It seemed she was a very stubborn person as nothing he tried had managed to get her to talk and only got him murderous glares.

After a few of those looks he had given up and decided to sleep with one eye open to be careful but nothing did happen through the night and come morning he tried again but once again to no avail. Now, they were back in the sky flying to Rynion. He carried her in his arms, careful to not cause any more damage or pain to her. At first it had seemed they were getting along but he wasn't sure what he did to anger her but after that she completely stopped talking to him so he just gave up trying to get her to talk.

He flew in the sky carrying her headed for the town that had appeared on the horizon. He flew approaching the town and slowly started to glide down to the ground. He landed not far from the city and sat Leanunya down on the ground. He started to walk to the city gates where the guards stood and looked at them.

"What business do you have?" Wolferan spoke, "We are seeking an old friend. We won't be staying for long." He then produced the money for the fee to enter the city and walked in with leanunya.

"So where can we find this; nagos?" He finally got a reply from her as she started to walk, "Sewers."

He gave a look of disgust but followed her as she headed into the town. He followed her as she took them down an alley and into an entrance to the sewers. He scrunched up his nose at the vile smell of rot and filth as they walked in the sewers. He walked trying to ignore the stench and not throw up. He couldn't understand how she could stand the smell.

He walked following her through the sewers. He was completely lost by now but she easily took several turns without pause and even looked to know these tunnels very well. He couldn't see why one would want to be down here but then he remembered she often escaped him by entering the sewers in towns. He then noticed a sign above a door.

It was bizarre to see such a sign and the sign read 'Rested Hinge'. He didn't understand it but Leanunya had no hesitation as she opened the door and entered. He followed her and looked around. He noticed several others in this place and what caught his attention was the smell of alcohol and the lack of the stink of rot. He looked at the others and noticed everyone there had fallen silent.

He didn't know if that was a good thing or bad but looked at leanunya. He could tell she was calm as she seemed to be looking around the place. She seemed to have found what she wanted as she walked over to a man with a scar on his cheek who was looking at her in surprise. He followed Leanunya over to the guy sitting at a table in the corner.

Leanunya spoke, "Bardock; where is Nagos?" The man blinked, "Oh.. um.. he is at home, why do you ask?" She spoke, "I need to prove to this idiot he is alive and well." She had pointed at wolferan. Bardock paled looking at Wolferan, "that's… Wolferan…" Leanunya nodded, "I know."

Wolferan spoke, "Yes I am wolferan but I'm only here to determine if the child is alive and what she has said is the truth." Bardock swallowed, "O-of course.. I'll take you to Nagos." He nodded, "that's much appreciated."

Bardock stood and headed to the door of the place walking hurriedly. Wolferan and Leanunya followed him. He walked calmly behind Bardock as the man hurriedly walked and soon left the sewers with them. Wolferan followed as they started to walk to a poorer part of the town. They walked for a few minutes before they came to a house that looked about ready to fall apart.

Bardock went into the house inviting wolferan and leanunya into the house. Wolferan walked in and found the house looked a bit cozy; lived in. The furniture wasn't the best but it looked worn if not comfy. He looked to Bardock as he called out for Nagos. He had already figured Bardock to be the father of Nagos from what Leanunya had told him before. He then heard a sudden shout.

"Leanunya!" He then saw a child run over. "What are you doing here? Did something happen?" The boy then looked at the others and seeing Wolferan frowned. Leanunya spoke before the boy could say anything else, "Nagos, calm down. That is wolferan before you ask and yes it is as you think."

The boy now as he knew Nagos glared at Wolferan and went over to him and kicked him, "Leanunya is a good person. Leave her alone!"

Wolferan was just as shocked as the others. He didn't know what to say to that. He looked at Nagos in shock and then looked at the others seeing Bardock's horrified look and saw as Leanunya flicked Nagos's forehead as she spoke.

"You are no match for him so don't even bother" Nagos rubbed his forehead, "ow… ok.."

Wolferan looked at them then spoke, "it's ok. I was surprised but it's fine. Let the boy say what he will. Children speak the truth and with his words what you said before is true." Leanunya glared a bit at him.

Wolferan smiled softly and looked at the others. He looked at them and spoke, "There is no need to worry. I only came here to confirm that Nagos was alive. Now that I have we'll leave"

He then nodded and headed out, Leanunya following him silently as Nagos said goodbye behind them. He left heading down the street headed for one of the city gates with her. He walked calmly leaving the city and looked at her. He went and picked her up carefully before taking flight. Leanunya did not even fight him.
