Chapter 2 - The Royal Family

I was shocked, The king wanted to get a closer look? At me? really? Why in the 7 hell's would he want that? Seeing the shock on my face he only smiled The princess however looks disgusted by the way I look. I can understand that reaction, I was living in the swears the only place the guards don't search thoroughly. And the reason for that is simple. The thieves live there. The guards and the thieves have a deal. We only steal from the nobles or rich merchants and they don't try to hard to catch us. It's a win win really. That and the fact that most thieves are like me. Orphans with no other jobs to young to be guards to weak to apprentice anywhere else. That's when an idea comes to me. I'm going to make my own "guard" A guild you could say. This guild will be made of all the orphans like me. Some would become soldiers other explores and mercenary, I'd even go so far as to say we could have a couple good craftsmen join up and teach them the trade. by doing this we could empower the kingdom, and help those in need. Right now though, I'm currently loosing my mind because the king is bending down before me taking a good look...

"My boy! How long have you been on these streets! My gods boy, Come come in the carriage we need to get you to the palace! Your arm needs to be looked at first of all and you seem to be malnourished." The king started rambling on about my injuries as I Kneel before him and his daughter. I did not move from my place as I said, "Even as such Lord I shan't Ride in the carriage with you. I shall march with the guards, I feel it would make everyone much more... Comfortable." The Royal guard agreed with me by nodding, The Princess also felt that this was what should be done be done after all I was not only a thief...I was Filthy. King Vernon had other plans though, "Nonsense, You are to become her royal guard are you not? Then you must ride in the carriage." This was nonsense surly they wouldn't have a simple solder ride with them. Upon those words I here a response from a new voice, "Come on boy there is no point in arguing with him he will order it if he must." I stood up reluctantly as King Vernon laughed, "She's right you know? My own Guard felt the same as you do, So I gave her an order. *Giggling from the king* and now she's my wife and my guard!" Wait... right I climb in the carriage and sit next to the king, reluctantly of course.

"Oh! And just so you know, It was my wife that recognized you not me," The king said, and before anyone could say anything I said, "I know my lord... I remember your eyesight was bad last time we met, as such it is more than likely gone by now." Not a sound, then from the King, "So, like your father you can see past illusions..." "I have not tried, I made this inference from a memory of my father saying, "Go forward and don't stop and bow until the king himself says so... He's a tad short sited." Sound about right?" I asked as I looked out the window...Wait, that there...Shit! "ASSASSIN!" I yelled as I lunged across the window. Feeling the arrow pierce my body the only thought I had was, 'This fuck thinks he can attack the royal family and get away with it... Fuck it! I'm dying anyway.' I spun and pulled a dagger from beneath my cloak throwing it with deadly accuracy. A scream sounded from far away... at least that's what it sounded like. I was bleeding out on the floor of the carriage.

In Third person:

A filthy young man lay in a pool of his own blood as two people scream. One is cut short though as the one screaming dies on the blade stuck in there chest. The other is from the princess whose feet are soaking in the boys blood. Of the other two people in the carriage, One stands to call the guard and gather the body and ensure the king and his daughters protection. This was a battle hardened warrior, the other was a blind old man who only sat there for a moment before waving his hand putting his daughter to sleep. He then said, "Now we see If you are more cat than wolf or if you are more hound than pussy." the woman sits back down and says, "The dagger was expertly thrown clean cut, bleed out in a matter of moments." "You collected the dagger right?" the old man asked, The woman who now seems older, "I did... It's him alright. The poor boy kept his mothers maiden dagger, and his father wedding blade." The man raised his brow, "I thought that was a sword?" The woman smiled, "It is he has the enchantment tattoo on his right forearm, out of site, but never.." "Out of reach... just as his father." *sigh* "Poor lad... He's gone through so much and now he might be able to join them... or maybe it'll be torn from him once more..."
