Chapter 695 - Hive World Necromunda

Infiltration of the Necromunda was actually much easier than one would have thought...

With the advanced stealth systems installed on the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer Dreadnought was more than enough to bypass the "defenses" of the Planet and the entire Star System entirely.

The Planetary Defense Force was barely of any use.

"Those troops and ships were not really useful... what the hell are they?"

Esdeath asked as the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer Dreadnought passed around shabby-looking Voidships that looked as if they would fall apart every second.

"According to the info, those are the Planetary Defense Forces... the primary military force of an individual settled Imperial world. The PDF is under the control of the local planetary government rather than direct Imperial control; the raising, training, arming, leadership, etc., of such units is entirely in the hands of the world's planetary governor. According to Imperial Law, all Imperial planets must maintain a standing army in order to maintain the Planetary Government's and thus the Imperium's control over the world against any possible invasion or insurrection."

I said what I gathered about the PDF, and it was rather disturbing... mostly because the quality of the Planetary Defense Forces was shit.

The PDF, as essentially the local military of an Imperial World, has no standardisation and can take any form; some, such as the PDF of Hive Worlds, may be no more than legitimised gangs supported and armed by the local planetary government to keep down the more anarchic elements.

"I guess that they are not the most powerful ones around?"

Esdeath asked with a mocking voice. She could see that state of the Voidships of the Necromunda's Planetary Defense Forces were in terrbile shape.

Even though she wasn't really any of the scientists of the Voidships, she could see that the ones used by the PDF of the Necromunda were beyond old, and some were barely being held together.

"Yes... This is rather a common state of the Planetary Defense Forces across the majority of the Imperial Worlds. One of the reasons why I hate the Imperium so much... It's disgusting."

The main reason why I hated the Imperium...

Their worship of the technology as something sacred and divine resulted in a society that was stagnating, barely capable of maintaining their current technology, and even that was done very poorly.

"Adeptus Mechanicus is the official Imperial name for the Cult Mechanicus or Cult of the Machine based on Mars, which provides the Imperium with its scientists, engineers, and technicians. As part of this faith, the Adeptus Mechanicus believes knowledge is the true manifestation of divinity in the universe, and all creatures and artefacts that embody knowledge are holy because of it. This leads to the current state of the Imperium... decay, superstition, and praying to the washing machine."

I don't know if it was due to my nature as a scientist and researcher, or if there was anything else within it, but the Cult Mechanicus was something that I considered to be an abomination.

Worshipping technology?

Like a God?

I could understand if they were worshipping the God of Technology or the God of Science or whatever else...

"So they are idiots, right?"

I slowly nodded at Esdeath's statement because, in her opinion, worshipping technology was rather idiotic. It was like worshipping some random object that one could pick up from the street or yard next to the road.

It was a terribly stupid notion.

"Partially... the Imperium of Man is an absolute theocratic nation led by superstition and barbarism... after their Emperor was constrained to the Golden Throne of Terra, everything went to fuck... but enough of that."

I said because the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer Dreadnought was already reaching the atmosphere of the Necromunda. We were heading directly to the outskirts of the Hive Primus, also known as the Palatine Hive.

The largest and oldest surviving Hive City on Necromunda, the dynastic home of Lord Gerontius Helmawr, Imperial Commander or the Planetary Governor of Necromunda, known across the planet as "The Palatine."

The hive cluster it belongs to is known as the "Palatine Cluster".

"We would be landing several tens of kilometers from the outskirts of the Hive City. The Hive City itself also has the fortress-monastery of the Adeptus Astartes contingent and the headquarters of the Adeptus Arbites on Necromunda. Of course, with our strength, neither of them is any viable threat even if we encounter them in large numbers."

I explained that this planet was becoming rather interesting. While I even previously knew that Necromunda was heavily defended, this was even more than I had initially anticipated.

"From the outskirts, we would be going straight to the Special Spire set aside for the aliens and Abhumans who come to Necromunda from time to time in order to trade. Both Squats and Aeldari are among these visitors, and they are housed on separate levels of this spire. Afterwards, we would be going to the Underhive from which we should reach the planetary core."

Unfortunately, most of the infrastructure from the Golden Age of Technology, as they called it, already collapsed and been destroyed. Directly, there was no way of reaching my destination of choice aside from reaching the closest point and digging through the scraps and rubble.

That was the only viable opinion that we had on hand.

Far from the ideal one.

"I understand. But I want to fight at a later date, preferably in the Underhive or against some of the Space Marines... I am interested in their power."

I shook my head in denial, because even after clearly explaining to her that Space Mariens wouldn't last a single hit from her, she still wanted to fight them. Esdeath was physically strong enough right now to flatten entire mountains thanks to becoming a Psyker and the enhancement from the Psychic Energy.

Though I didn't really doubt that if Hela was here, she would be doing the same thing, or gods forbid, Sigmar or even Gu Long. My son with Gu Yuena was usually rather tame, but sometimes when he was in a combative mood, he was worse than Sigmar.
