Chapter 281 - Eruption of a Rescue

Logging in did not change my current circumstance, or at least I thought it had not changed anything. For the first time in a while, I found the food they dropped into the room was a bit more enticing. I ate the bread and cheese they gave me and leaned back, thinking about what I should do when they came for me.

Or even how they planned to come and save me.

Were they going just to burst in?

Were they going to come in like princesses on a white horse like my saviors?

I chuckled a bit at that thought, and I wondered where the Dragonic woman had disappeared to. I had not seen her since that interaction, even though I thought she was going to be back almost right away. I had no idea where she went, and with today being the day of rescue, I hoped it was not today, even though I wished to see her soon.

She had been the first clue to find out what happened or where Iona's homeland was. It was something that I did not know what to do about, and then I noticed something. It was something that I should have noticed almost immediately, but there were no customers today. Usually, they had me working pretty often, but for now, there was nothing. I decided to lie back until they came to rescue me, and I found myself lying flat and entertaining myself.

I wove the appearance of the starry sky, trying to build increasing complexity, and found it extremely difficult to build and maintain. It was easier to build a tapestry that did not seem to change. The parts that made it seem more realistic were something that burned through my mana quickly, and I dispersed the spell quickly, letting it disappear.

Again, I thought about the need to change the way that Illusions work and-

BOOOOOM!

A sudden eruption of sound and work started to sound outside the door, and I quickly gathered the things that were mine and waited. Outside the room, the world blew up, and I started to hear the sound of things hitting each other. I felt the tension outside the room as the door was suddenly blasted open, and I huddled in the corner with my things, trying to look small.

"Just a Succubus Whore, Clear!" A man announced, and the ringing outside the room resounded with another blast down the hall as the people blasting into this Inn continued. The sounds of swords parrying and hitting shields resounded outside the room. I heard curses and another blast hit something solid, and I heard, "A Human whore, woman, Clear!" before moving on. It seemed that these were the guards or an organization clearing out the Sewer Inn, and I stood back up, and suddenly, Iona and Naughty Bunny came into the room with massive smiles.

"Iona! Naughty!" I exclaimed happily, and Iona grabbed me, leaned down, kissed me, my lips lost in hers as she greedily took her princess.

"Come on, we need to go, now, the guards will ask questions if we stick around," Naughty snapped, pulling us back to reality, and suddenly, I was being pulled through a battlefield. Men, women, orcs, elves, beast-kin, and various other races were strewn all over the floor. They lay dead all over the floor, and I was pulled through the Inn that I had been working in without another word.

The world around us was a cacophony of blood and guts. The smell made just walking through it a vomit-inducing experience, but I swallowed down the bile as we were pulled through the blood-laced hallways. The silence between each other was only broken with the sounds of screams between the guards and the people of the inn, and everything around me was horrifying till suddenly.

We reached the stairs, and I was pulled up with Gloom Viccy and Fidel suddenly joining us at the base, and I was being pulled up the stairs.

"We need to move," Viccy said, her voice hurried. "We almost did not find Elli fast enough. The guards did not give us much time," She complained, but they all nodded and moved up the steps and hurried out into the city and hurried off towards our home.

It was at least three blocks heading away from the inn before they took a moment to settle in. "We are all here, right?" Iona said, looking around, and all of us nodded, although I was still confused about what was happening.

"Alright, time to get out ot the slums before it erupts," Iona said, and again, we were moving with me pulled along.

After a couple of days not moving around too much in-game, I was suddenly on the move, and I realized that I was not as used to running in this body at the moment. I stumbled a couple of times before I suddenly heard the eruption of yelling behind us.

But just as we were about to leave the area, Viccy shared the quest with me.

My eyes widened, and we continued running as I accepted.

My eyes skimmed it, and I quickly realized why we were rushing, although I wondered if there was a hidden consequence, and as the yelling increased behind me, I realized one of those unintended consequences.

In Dark City, the slums did not accept the guards, and quickly, the screaming and yelling increased. But we were on the border of the slums, and people were closing their windows, and they hunkered down while others left their homes. I could see people walking out of their houses with weapons and anger on their face. This was close to the borders, and you could see people start to move out.

The guards attacking something in the slums was seen as a declaration of war, it seemed, which meant.

My thoughts were cut off as we ran, and we departed the slums.

We slowed, and I was the only one gasping after being pulled this distance. But we did not stop, we just stopped running and moved to a brisk walk.

"Where," I huffed hard, pausing before finishing, "are, we, going?" I asked my breath, still screaming at me with each huff, and the ladies turned to me, but we continued.

"Back home, we need to talk, and in public is not the best place," Viccy said with a grin, and I smiled, seeing that smile, and I followed behind them.
